As the Bulldogs soccer boys go into their senior night, the last home game for the seniors on the team, they are looking for redemption from their first game against Girard earlier in the season. The Bulldogs took a tough loss against Girard losing 4-0 earlier in the season. They are looking for redemption against Girard as it is their seniors’ last home game.

The seniors for the Bulldogs soccer team consist of Cayden Buhala, Thomas Spencer, and Gavin Franks. All three of these seniors are hard workers and great leaders on and off the field.

Here is what coach Nicholas Facciolo had to say about the players as they go into the game, “Going into the game I could tell that the players had a very different attitude than I was used to seeing. They were upbeat and ready to play. I felt that we had a real shot at winning this match.”

The Bulldogs ended up taking a tough loss against Girard once again losing 4-1. Despite some of the mistakes, the players made they still feel as if they played their hearts out.

Here is what Buhala had to say about the outcome of the match, “It was a tough loss for sure knowing that it was my last home game. We went out there and played our hearts out, but unfortunately, not everyone is perfect and we all make mistakes. This then ended up causing some of the goals Girard scored. They noticed our mistakes and capitalized on them.”

Coach Facciolo also had some remarks about the match, “Overall I am very happy with how the team performed against Girard, despite the loss. I was most impressed with the way the team responded after going down by one. Not a single player put their head down and we were able to tie it up within two minutes. We had momentary letdowns that resulted in Girard scoring and ultimately winning.”

Coach Facciolo also had to say, “The outcome of the game was obviously not the result we hoped for but I was very happy with the way the players performed. From start to finish I can say that every player left it all on the field that night. Fortunately, this was the catalyst that the team needed for the players to realize they could compete at another level. With tournaments beginning the week after that game it came at the perfect time.”

With the Bulldogs losing their last home game it created a lot of anger for the players. Going into one of the last games of the season against Hubbard it is going to be a difficult match for the players.

The Bulldogs ended up being the underdogs of the match and ended up beating Hubbard 2-1. The Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the first half with a goal coming from freshman Tyler Simonyi. Hubbard then tied the game up with only a couple of minutes left in the first half. The Bulldogs didn’t let that get to them and they came out with the same intensity as they did when they started the match. Freshman Brandon Toot ended up scoring the game-winning goal early on in the second half. The Bulldogs then continued to play their hardest and they were able to win against one of the top teams in the area.

Here is what Captain Luca Comichisto had to say about the game, “It felt good knowing that we can compete with some of the best teams in the area. Coming out with the win over Hubbard just shows how far we’ve come as the season progressed.”

With the season coming to an end the players are working their butts off to make it as far as possible in the later stages of the post-season tournament. The Bulldogs won their first tournament game against Jefferson 2-0. They are set to play Howland on Saturday 10/22 @4pm.
