As the school year comes to a close, it’s time to shine a light on some of our exceptional seniors who have made a lasting impact on our school community. This Senior Spotlight will be featuring Addison Allen. Her 12 years of education have been filled with academic and athletic success, preparing her for the journey ahead.
As she is ready to take the next step in her life, she reminisces on her memorable high school years. Allen expressed,“Lakeview has definitely made me more social throughout the years and allowed me to become friends with new people.”
When it comes to Lakeview athletics, Allen has contributed significantly to the success of both the girls softball and volleyball teams, having played four years of volleyball and two years of softball.
When asked about her volleyball experience throughout high school, Allen commented, “I have created so many unforgettable memories and developed a special love for the sport that will stay with me for a lifetime. I’m forever grateful that I joined and was able to play alongside all of my best friends, sharing in the joys of victory and the lessons of defeat together. Those experiences not only shaped me as an athlete but also deepened our friendships in ways I never thought possible.“
With years of experience, she has been able to grow as a person and serve as a role model for her younger teammates, Allen advises, “I would say to just be yourself, unapologetically and authentically. Try new things, even if they push you out of your comfort zone, and meet new people who can broaden your horizons and enrich your life. Even if you’re not always comfortable, embrace the uncertainty and experience everything that life has to offer. Make as many memories as possible.”
As Allen continues to be influential for the underclassmen, she remembers the people who have positively impacted her, I think Mr. Murphy has influenced me the most. He is extremely supportive and always considers our feelings. He is a very reasonable person who always puts our education first. I would also say my friends played a huge part in helping me stay motivated and push myself to try my hardest. Being surrounded by such a great group of people makes me want to better myself and exceed expectations.”
Allen‘s twelve years of education at Lakeview have been nothing but positive. From winning districts for the first time in the volleyball team’s program history to winning Homecoming Queen her Senior year, her experience has been unforgettable. When asked about what she considers memorable, she answers, “The one thing I will remember most are the football games. They were a huge part of school and always gave me something to look forward to. I will also miss the supportive atmosphere and my classmates and meeting up with everyone for “poker night.” I don’t know how to play poker, but I was happy to be there!”
Senior year is such a significant time in every student‘s life. The challenging, but exciting, year recaps and celebrates students and the years they have spent in school. When asked about her senior year, Allen emphasizes “My favorite highlight of senior year was probably winning homecoming queen! It was such an exciting experience and completely unexpected! I would say the most difficult part so far is filling out scholarships and college applications. It is very time consuming and sometimes stressful.”
As Allen is approaching graduation, she is preparing herself for the next big chapter in her life. Ohio University is lucky to have her, and Lakeview wishes her the best of luck!
