With graduation coming up, Katarina Candor has many exciting things to look forward to. Candor has been a student at Lakeview her whole life, showcasing what a true Bulldog looks like. While at Lakeview, Candor has accomplished many great academic and athletic achievements!
As Candor’s senior year is coming to an end, she has decided to continue her educational journey at Kent State University, where she will major in Aeronautical studies to become a pilot.
Even though her exciting future is right around the corner, she says, “I am nervous, but excited to attend college and take the next step toward my career!”
With this being said, Candor has many high school memories she will never forget. When asked about her favorite highlight of senior year so far, she exclaimed, “My favorite part of senior year was football season. Cheering with my friends one last time was so bittersweet knowing what our futures will hold.”
Cheer has always been such a huge part of Candor’s life. Since she was little, Candor has found her heart in school and competitive cheer. She is a participant on the Lakeview cheer team, while also cheering competitively for Cheertime Athletics. Her talent is beyond exceptional, which is why she has achieved such great success.
When reflecting on her years at Lakeview, she has many teachers who have influenced the person she is today. One teacher she will never forget is math teacher Jamie Miller. When asked about the impact Miller had on Candor’s life, she stated, “The teacher that influenced me the most is Mrs. Miller. Even though her classes were challenging, she was encouraging and had a way of making the class enjoyable. Her kindness and ability to make learning engaging helped me gain confidence and a strong work ethic that I will carry with me to college and beyond.”
Growing up is hard, and happens a lot faster than most people think. Candor’s four years of high school have allowed her to learn more about herself and the people around her. If she could give a freshman advice, she would say to “truly live in the moment. I know that is what everyone says, but high school was so fun and went so fast. I would do anything to be able to do it again.”
At the end of the day, Lakeview has created such a loving environment for Candor. She will never forget “the memories I have made here. The strong sense of community has led me to form many friendships and create many memories, whether it was while cheering under the Friday night lights or just walking through the halls.”
Even though Candor makes school seem easy, one of the hardest things this year has been “finding the motivation to keep working hard. Even though I have gotten into college, I still have to work hard to get good grades in my classes, which can be difficult when I know I am so close to graduation.”
With working hard comes motivation. Candor has had many positive influences in her life, but one person she will always be thankful for is her mother. When asked about her biggest inspiration, Candor had much to say: “My mom has definitely inspired me the most. Seeing how hard she works for me and my siblings motivates me to work hard in school and stay focused on my next steps.”
Candor has had an amazing high school experience. With her academic achievements and outstanding athletic performance, she has created more than enough perfect memories. Candor’s future is near and is going to be a big transition. If anyone can tackle this big change, it is her. Lakeview wishes Candor the best as she takes her next steps as a Kent State Flash!
