Starting this fall, Cortland Lanes Bowling Center will have sign-ups for youth bowling leagues for ages 4-18. Bowling leagues for kids are all about fun, learning, and making new friends.
Cortland Lanes Bowling Center is a family-owned business. The lanes opened their doors in 1961, and to this day still have youth to adult bowling leagues.
Youth bowling is a great way to keep your kids active and learn about teamwork all at the same time. Tournaments will allow kids to compete and show off their skills with other youth bowlers and friends in your county.
Your kid will learn from the best coaches around. They will be taught the basic rules of bowling along with valuable skills while building confidence.
Starting your kid at a young age will help them develop skills that will help them throughout their life.
Joining the youth bowling league at Cortland Lanes has its benefits; your teammates might be kids you already know from school. There are no limits on how many kids can join, and if you continue bowling throughout school, Cortland Lanes is also the home bowling center for the Lakeview High School bowling team.
Don’t miss out, Season starts September 1st – March 1st.
Are you still not convinced? Hear from people who know all about bowling!
Owner of Cortland Lanes Bowling Center and current coach for the youth leagues, Gayle Ruddy said, “After I retired from being a teacher, I still wanted to teach kids, so I decided to start a youth bowling league at Cortland Lanes. I started coaching kids how to bowl. I make it really easy for the younger kids or kids who have never bowled before. By helping them, I stand by the lanes with a stick that has a tennis ball at the end of it, and I tell the kids to aim for the tennis ball.”
Ruddy says, “Bowling is a sport that’s easy to get into, you don’t need experience, everyone is welcome.”
Ruddy states, “Our youth bowling leagues began in the morning for a couple of hours, my coaches are there to help each kid, none is left out. Parents are welcomed to stay and watch too!”
At the end of the season, Cortland Lanes hosts a nice banquet with food and prizes. Every child gets recognized by the coaches and announces their names. All the kids love it when it’s time for banquet season, so everyone can see how much they’ve improved over the months.
Another thing kids and adults love to go for at Cortland Lanes is their cosmic nights, where everyone can show off their skills, order food and drinks, and overall have a great time.
Current Lakeview High School Coach, prior youth bowler coach, and also current Cortland Lanes bowler- Sebastian Ruddy.
Sebastian claims, “I started youth bowling league when I was 4. I knew I wanted to be a bowler when I used to watch my dad bowl at Cortland Lanes and also tournaments. Who was also a prior youth bowler back in the day.”
“Starting at a very young age, I loved bowling so much, I continued it throughout high school years, and I still continue to bowl in my 20s. Since I continued bowling throughout my high school, I was able to earn bowling scholarships for college,” Sebastian added.
Finally, Sebastian said, “Bowling got me out of my comfort zone, which helped me talk to new people, and by doing that, I kept those friends after I graduated high school. I feel it helps me build physical coordination, strength, discipline, and, of course, teamwork.”
And if you didn’t already sign up your kids for the youth bowling league after reading all of those comments by Gayle Ruddy and Sebastian Ruddy.
Here is one more person to convince you to sign your kid up for bowling.
Graduated from Lakeview High School, prior youth bowling coach, current high school bowling coach, has 10 300 games, and currently holds the highest average at Cortland Lanes. Shawn Ruddy is.
Shawn claims, “I started bowling when I was around 2 and haven’t stopped since. I bowled in my mom’s youth bowling league and also helped when I got older. I really enjoyed coaching the league. I feel it’s a great start of introducing bowling to kids at a younger age. What’s nice about bowling is that you can bowl all year round. Bowling is great for all seasons!”
“Come and join!”
