There are a lot of unseen activities going on behind the scenes of the pep rallies. The most exciting parts of the year. This year pep rallies are better than ever. Cheerleaders love to bring the students together and get the crowd going for the Friday night football games.
Many teams prepare weeks in advance for these occasions. Lakeview likes to honor the special football games with a little more than just our Bulldog spirit. These games include Homecoming, Senior night, Rival teams, and so many more. Pep Rallies have been a huge part of the high school experience for Lakeview. During these events we like to honor not just our football team, Cheerleaders and marching band, but also our coaching staff and other sports that we have at Lakeview.
When a certain sport makes a huge accomplishments whether than means beating a record time, making it to states, break the school record, we like to notice those teams and let them get the attention they deserve. The planning of the pep rallies are not easy these people include Varsity cheerleaders, Band Members, and Coaches.
Lakeview science teacher and Cheerleading coach Morgan Jankovich says, ”I believe that pep rallies are an important and integral part of a teenager’s high school experience. Coming together as a student body having fun, and supporting one another is what pep rallies are all about.“
She further states, “Coming up with entertaining games that allow everyone to join in on the fun weather that means they are participating directly or cheering for their graduating class. It is important in order to build school spirit.”
Jankovich has included that her fellow staff members have included their past high school experiences to add to Lakeview’s that we will have for generations to come.
Senior band president Maya Figueroa states, “Being president of the band includes the responsibility of making sure we are prepared. When we are told to play a song we need to be prepared and know what we are going to play. The band playing for pep rallies is such a fun experience you get to hear all of the music that the band has worked so hard on. These songs include some that we play at our half time performances.”
It’s very important to get everyone’s aspect of the performances that we put on inside and outside of school.
Finally, Adi Lenox is a 3 year varsity cheerleader and works with the other cheerleaders to plan these fun activities. Here is her input on the behind the scenes of planning.
Lenox states, “When planning pep rallies we love to notice our sports who have made big accomplishments Mr.Herrholtz and the varsity cheer squad meet a week before a pep rally to get a good idea on what is going to be happening.”
She explains how it is very important to be known of the major accomplishments that are happening at Lakeview.
Lenox adds, ”Not only does the hard work come from planning it also comes from preparing. The cheer squad practices throughout the summer and school year to learn the many different dances to show at our pep rallies. The band practices all summer long to learn the songs that they will be playing throughout the football season as well as pep rallies. The majorettes also prepare and put in a lot of hard work learning the different dances with and without their batons that they show off at pep rallies.”
Speaking with people for all aspects of the planning process of pep rallies highlights the tremendous tasks of planning and preparing for these fun activities that we get to do at Lakeview.
