On Aug 28, 2025 The Lakeview Drama Department started off their year with an orientation for students interested in joining the Lakeview Drama Department and returning students. The orientation consisted of information on the upcoming fall show, “Too Many Detectives in the Murder Mansion”, which is a murder mystery comedy. Other information in the orientation was about show dates and a tour. Show dates for the fall show are November 6th-9th, and for the spring show April 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, and 26th. More information on the fall play will be released once practicing starts and gets closer to the show.
Junior Lillianna Masteller, who was in the 23-24 Drama season where they performed “A Night of One-Acts” and “Addams Family”, was on the crew for both shows. Mastellar did various jobs for “Night of One-Acts” and operated the backdrop, which she also helped paint for the “Addams Family” production. Mastellar says, “I had a great time, I regret not participating in 24-25, but I will be joining again this year for 25-26. I definitely think if you’re creative and willing to put in the hours, the Drama Club is the perfect place to hang around.”
Junior Keira Fasser, who was part of the spring musical as a crew member, ran the projector in “Addams Family” in 2024 and crew, and helped run sound in the 24-25 production year for “Antigone in Munich” and “The Mouse that Roared” says, “My time in drama was a lot of work but in the end, my favorite part is being able to bond with friends and also seeing our stories come to life in front of the audience.”
The Lakeview Drama doesn’t get the attention it deserves, the students work very hard to produce the shows they do, granted some of them are considered better than others when it comes to asking the cast and crew about shows they’ve done in the past, but they like to put passion and time into their work, at the end of the day they put in the effort so that they’re proud of their work that they did.
Junior Bella Marsh, who was only in the drama department for a little of the 2024 fall production “Antigone in Munich” says, “I thought drama was fun; I got to paint one of the sets, I was able just have fun playing a small part, and I was able to have fun with the people around me. Sure it was for a short time, but I still had fun!”
Overall, all people say that dramas are a very fun place to be, and they wouldn’t have made the friendships they had if it wasn’t for drama. However they did say that it was a little tiring, but in the end all the effort that was put in was worth it in the long run.
Alumni Jax Neiswonger, who was part of The Lakeview Drama Club for the productions of 21-22, 22-23, 23-24, and 24-25. Jax says, “Overall I loved being on stage and making new friends every year.”
In the near future, these are some important things and dates to keep in mind: Thursday September 18, are auditions for drama club which will take place right after school ends, if you plan on auditioning have a monolog memorized and ready to go, the better you do with the additions the better your role will be, so keep that in mind.
