The Lakeview Bulldogs Junior Varsity football team has been working non stop during practices and games this season. The Bulldogs are seeing a lot of young talent for this 2025 season with many Freshman and Sophomores running the team. With the Bulldogs team only playing 2 games so far this season, the Bulldogs have been victorious in both of the games that they have played so far.
The Bulldogs are 2-0 on the season with only playing 2 games. The Bulldogs will not back down no matter what though they are a team full of heart and passion. The Bulldogs have had to cancel 2 games already because of teams having not enough players that will not stop the Bulldogs from practicing hard.
A standout player we have seen from this year’s Bulldogs team would be Freshman Alex Cash. He is a leader on the team. Cash is a freshman this year and has already been starting to lead a team. Cash has seen some time on the varsity field this year.
Cash was questioned about moving from starting JV to starting Varsity what were the differences he noticed. “Definitely a big jump from running the game to feeling like your the smallest on the field makes you realize how small you really are compared to them.”
The Bulldogs have had many players from the JV team move onto the Varsity team due to injuries and what not. A lot of these players have had to step up and show what they can really do on the varsity team.
After the recent losses of players from the JV they have still been performing great out there with the players they still have and the players they have lost due to injury. The competition they are facing is great competition for them too but the Bulldogs are making it work out there being 2-0.
Freshman Xavier Schrader was questioned about how he thinks the Bulldogs have been performing lately. “I think we’ve been performing great with the talent we’ve been facing and especially with the people that are out from injuries”.
Schrader exclaims that there are many crucial players from the team that are injured or got transferred to the varsity team. But that’s not stopping the Bulldogs from succeeding this season.
The Bulldogs face tough competition being in the NE8 conference going up against teams like Girard, Poland and South Range. The Bulldogs know that they are going to have to bring their A game into every game they play this season.
With the JV team being so young they have had some upperclassmen guide them through the ups and downs of high school football.
Freshman Alex Yannucci was asked about how the upperclassmen have guided the younger guys throughout this season. Yannucci responded. “They set a standard in practice, and keeping us focused during practice, games etc. And they motivate us to keep working hard. Us working hard also benefits them in practice because we are working hard for them and helping them succeed.”
Yannucci said it there that the upperclassmen have done a good job to guide them and kind of show them the key to getting some varsity minutes this season. The upperclassmen have set standards for them to follow during practices so everybody is benefited.
The Bulldogs aren’t done yet with more than half the season still ahead of them. The Bulldogs still have time to prove that they are a powerhouse JV team within the NE8. The boys are ready for anything to happen this season and will be ready to go into any scenario with a winning mindset that’s what makes the Bulldogs successful.
