Lakeview High school symphonic band went to the state band competition last week after successfully getting a 1 at districts. The competition was held at North Royalton High School near Cleveland Ohio. The band played three songs for the judges; the songs were, “A Longford Legend,” “The Crosley March” and finally “Scarborough Fair.” The three songs were played for three judges.

On the floor the band got a 1, a 2, and 3. ( The scale for anything in music is 1 through 5, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst.) After performing the three songs on the floor the band also had to go into a separate room and play a song that they had never seen before. The band gets 4 minutes to look at the song with no talking and then the band gets another 4 minutes to look at the song with the band director.

After that set amount of time the band plays the song for a judge and he gives them another rating on a scale from 1 to 5 again. This time the band would go to receive a two in sight reading also.

When all the scores were averaged out the band would leave North Royalton with a two over all.
