Get Involved With The Sock Drive

Keeley Painter and Aliyah Jackson

The Lakeview Sock Drive is a wonderful way to get involved with your community and help others this Holiday season. The Sock Drive was run by the LHS Sr. Beta Club. The drive allows students in Sr Beta and around the school to donate new, white socks to The American Legion to give to veterans in local nursing homes in the Trumbull County area.

We asked Angela Sarko, the adviser of Sr. Beta, a number of questions regarding The Sock Drive. Questions included, “When is the due date?” Sarko responded that “it lasted from November 1st until December 1st. However, the Senior Beta Club will be taking socks throughout December for anyone who could not meet that deadline.” Another question asked was, “what is the ultimate goal of The Sock Drive?” Sarko replied with, “the goal is to collect at least 100 pairs of socks and we have collect 187 pairs thus far!”

Sarko also added that this is Sr. Beta’s second year doing The Sock Drive and they will also be hosting it in years to come so people will still have the chance to donate. Socks were picked up by Charles Sayers, The 1st Vice Commander at the Howland American Legion.
