The 2018 golf season was another great year for the Lakeview Girl’s Golf Team. The team had seniors Kristen Lucas, Sophia Nicholas, and Kelsey Lucas back, along with junior Kaileen Stevens and sophomores Gracie Nicholas and Kylie Woods. The team also welcomed freshmen Raegan Schick, Arianna Erwin, and Isabella Schuster. The girls had an overall record of 8-7 for the season and completed their goal of going to districts for the 8th straight year, where they placed 9th out of 12 teams.

When asked about what she would miss most about being apart of the team, senior Sophia Nicholas said that she’ll miss the fun times had by the team. “What I am going to miss most about our golf team has to be our goofiness,” stated Nicholas. “A lot of golf teams from other schools were always serious and didn’t know how to have fun. We were always messing around and having fun, including Coach.”

Nicholas also said that making it to districts was the highlight of her season. “My favorite thing about this season was achieving our goal and making it to districts again. Overall, I’m mostly grateful to have been able to golf with my best friends for four years straight!”.

We spoke with sophomore Gracie Nicholas, and asked what her favorite memory from this past season was, and she said that she enjoyed the numerous team bonding sessions. “Things such as team dinners and bus rides after long matches or tournaments made for great memories”.

In addition, we asked Nicholas what golf has taught her, and she responded that “by playing in tournaments, I was prepared to be more social and enjoy my time on the course. Of course you want to focus on your golf game, but its also important to have fun while playing. If I had to give a message to upcoming  golfers it would be to be honest with your game, play for yourself, have fun, and remember, your only competitor is yourself”.
