Art Students Receive Silver Keys

The Northeastern Ohio Regional Scholastic Art competition is one of the largest art recognition organizations in our area. Since 1923, this program has worked to showcase the ingenuity and talents of our area’s jr. high and high school students. This event is hosted each year by the YSU Art Department, and this year a few Lakeview students have been recognized for their various abilities.

Art students Emily Bennett, Carson Hackenson, Austin Thomas, Antonio Campolito, Ashley Hetherington, Kaileen Stevens, and Alissa Rodgers all entered works into the competition. These pieces consisted of various medias including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and more. All entered works are currently on display inside Bliss Hall on the YSU campus.

Of those that entered, three students have been chosen to receive Silver Key Awards for their works. Juniors Ashley Hetherington and Kaileen Stevens have each won three silver key awards, and Alissa Rodgers has been awarded one silver key.

Hetherington, Stevens, and Rodgers have been recognized for their artistic abilities, and on January 26th, will attend an award ceremony at Ford Theatre with friends and family. Here they will receive their awards and view the large collection of entries from all participating schools. The show will remain on display until January 29th, and can be viewed by the public 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
