Girls Tennis In Search of Players

The Lakeview Girls’ Tennis Team had a successful 2019 season. Facing the strongest programs in the area, the Bulldogs finished with 8 wins at Sectionals.

The small team is graduating four seniors this year, making the already small team of only nine drop to five.

To build back up to a necessary size, the Varsity team is in search of at least two players for the 2020 fall tennis season. The team needs a minimum of seven players to be able to play a match without forfeiting.

The team will have two seniors next year, Abbey Leonard and Christine Innocenzi. These upcoming seniors have not been playing all through high school. Leonard joined the team during her sophomore year, and Innocenzi joined the team during her junior year, proving that players can join the team at any time in their academic career.

Both upcoming seniors are excited about their senior seasons saying, “We are already planning team-building activities such as a scavenger hunt and team sleepovers.”

The seniors are excited to welcome any new teammates that come their way regardless of skill or ability.

Girls interested in joining the tennis team can contact Leonard, Innocenzi, or Girls tennis coach Elisabeth Wilson, who is also a 7th grade English teacher at the Lakeview K-8 building.
