As of Friday February 7 interims are out for the third nine weeks and some seniors are realizing they may have a serious case of senioritis. Senior year is going by faster than most of us can keep up. When the third nine weeks came, lots of seniors thought they had so much time until the end of the grading period, but its already half way over. With all the teachers cramming tests, quizzes, and homework in until we have finals and state testing, lots of students have been slacking and not doing their best.

Senior Ashleigh Bowker says, “This is the homestretch and while it seems so far, it’s actually pretty close. With that being said, I think we can all agree that doing school work such as taking tests, worrying about due dates, or even turning in papers are just the last things we want to do. Graduation is at the tip of our fingers and we just have to make it through these last few months. We all have to get it together before its too late.”

She’s right; most of the seniors only have graduation day on their mind and are forgetting that they still have to make it through the last few months. Getting out of a funk and getting back into the swing of things can be hard, but for some they’re okay with getting by with the minimum.

For example, Kayla Beil says, “Senioritis hit me on the second day of senior year and honestly I have not studied for one anatomy test yet.” Although she is still getting through with a high passing grade, she says, “it’s okay if it isn’t perfect, I just have to make it to graduation.”

It’s safe to say that May 17th is the only thing the senior class is thinking about these days.

Senior Kelsi Howard says, “What the heck we gonna do now? I don’t want to do this work anymore. I am over it.”

Needless to say, others are questioning how to survive this case of senioritis. We know they will pull through in the end.

Senior Demetrios Kakiou says, “I’m ready to move on and start a new chapter in life.”

This is exactly how the senior class feels. They are all ready to be out of high school and start this new journey. We know they can do this; it’s just a matter of dedication.
