Bulldogs Look to Bounce Back
September 15, 2020
The Lakeview Bulldog Football team is looking for a rebound season this year after finishing 2-8 in the 2019 season. The team is led by Senior Captain Kyle Roberts and Quarterback Stephen Pavlansky. They have a tough season opener against Girard who finished with 6-5 record and were defeated in the first round of the playoffs.
The Bulldogs have a revamped coaching staff with the addition of Social Studies teacher Michael Johnson and Athletic Director Ron Dejulio. They look to lean on their 9 returning lettermen in hopes of a winning season.
Covid-19 has drastically changed how football looks day-to-day. The players are unable to use the locker rooms, must bring their own water, wear masks on the sideline, and a limited number of fans are able to cheer them on.
The Bulldogs are locked in and ready to go week one. Sophomore Cole Oriti says, “There are less distractions this year”. His hopes seemed high for this season and he claimed that they were more focused than ever.
The returning Senior Letterman are Stephen Pavlansky, Kyle Roberts, Brandon Sims, Brendon Kilpatrick, and Ethan Smith. The returning Junior Letterman are Jake Wilms, Gavin Mauger, Nate Fox, and Evan Davies.
The team has quite the injury problem currently. Second team All-county Middle Linebacker Jake Wilms is out with mono and offensive player of the year Gavin Mauger is out with a sprained ankle. The younger classmen look to fill their shoes.
The Bulldogs look to lean on their hard work to carry them through the season. Wilms says “ Our best attribute is definitely our mindset and hard work.” It will be an interesting season this year and hopefully the Dogs can bring home a winning season and a deep playoff run.
