Bulldogs Push to Playoffs

The Lakeview Bulldogs look to make a playoff push this season. The dogs defeated the Howland Tigers at home 54-45 in the first round of the playoffs. The Dogs trailed by 2 at half -time but the second half was a different story. The team was lead by senior captains Brendon Kilpatrick with 27 pts and Ryan Carnahan with 16 pts on a comeback. Juniors Colton Maiorca and Nate Fox tacked on 5 pts each to help push the Dogs to a narrow win.

The Dogs looks to play the Poland Bulldogs this Friday in the second round of the playoffs. It will be a tough game at Poland, but Lakeview looks forward to it. They look to find revenge for their 10 point loss earlier this season to Poland. It was a close low scoring game in which Poland pulled away towards the end.

Junior, Nate Fox, says, “If we lock down defensively and take good shots, we will have a chance to steal this game.”

The Bulldogs finished with a regular season record of 7-6 which notched them at 3rd place in the NE-8 conference, only behind Poland and Struthers. They have had some difficult games against Hudson and Walsh Jesuit but their coach thinks it will prepare them for tournament play.

With the return of Junior Starter Jake Wilms, fresh out of quarantine, they look to upset Poland.

Wilms, a 2 year starter for the team and one of their leaders spoke on this topic. He said, “When this team is playing together and working as one, I like our chances against anyone.”

The team looks to lean on captains Kilpatrick and Carnahan, but look for key roles from Maiorca (Junior), Wilms (Junior), Fox (Junior), Popovich (Junior), Roberts (Senior), and Saxton (Senior). Hopefully this battle of the Bulldogs will leave Lakeview victorious.
