Boys Soccer Kicks Off with a Challenging Start
September 15, 2021
The Lakeview Bulldogs boys soccer team has been notorious for being a good contender every single year. In the past two years, the Bulldogs went to the District Finals (2019), and the District Semi-Finals (2020). After losing 13 seniors in the last year and gaining 14 freshmen, the team looks very different compared to the years prior.
Although the team has lost a bunch of talented players, the younger players are stepping up and filling in. Senior Captain, Nick Dorma, has high hopes for the rest of the soccer season.
“We are a very young, inexperienced team, but we have a lot of potential. We keep getting better and better every day, and we are really forming as a team,” Dorma adds. “We have played really good teams up to this point, and we have had many promising moments against these teams.”
Through the first four games of the season, all of the teams the Bulldogs have played reached the District Finals last year, including the defending state champions, the Howland Tigers.
Zach Sulc, also a Senior Captain for the Bulldogs, has a few words to share from his experience.
“We are aware that we are the underdogs this year, however, we are looking for a good turnout in the end. We know that we have the capability to beat some very good teams this year. We just need to work as a team.”
The team is led by LMS math teacher Coach Nick Facciolo, who seems to be flying solo this year and he is promised that he can rely on his leaders this year to help him out on and off the field.
Fans can look forward to watching the Bulldogs as they go on to play Hubbard away on Thursday, 9/16, and host Niles at home on Saturday 9/18.
