As the 2021 football season comes to a close, the banquet is always a great tradition that celebrates the positives of the season. While the football team did not have the year they had hoped for, some individuals achieved many special awards that they can remember for the rest of their lives.

Seniors Nate Fox and Gavin Mauger were the only four-year letter winners on the team while senior Evan Davies received his third letter and seniors Colton Maiorca and Glenn Tolliver received their second.

Fox says, “It’s really a testament to the hard work and dedication myself and others have put into the program throughout our careers.”

Fox and Mauger are also past winners of the Touchdown award. This year’s award was changed to the Don Richards Toughness Award, given out to the player who showed the most grit and toughness. Maiorca was the deserving recipient of this award.

Maiorca said, “I am honored that my teammates voted me for this award.”

Other special awards were given out including the Don Jones Mayor’s award. This award is given to the player who shows up everyday to practice and offseason workouts trying to make himself and his teammates better. Davies was this year’s recipient.

Finally, sophomore Tyler Hovance was awarded the Offensive Lineman of the Year award while sophomore Nolan Toth earned the Defensive Trenchman of the Year award.

“Even though this season did not go how we wanted it to, I couldn’t be more proud of this team. Thank you to my teammates for voting for me,”  Hovance said.

The Bulldogs will only lose 5 seniors next year as they look forward to opening up at home against Labrae to kick off the 2022 season.
