The Cross country team has been off to a great start finishing Top 5 in each meet they’ve been in. Both players and coaches are excited for the rest of this season and think they can keep this good momentum moving forward.

The cross country team has one senior this year, Zac Haley, and as a junior Haley went to state. As Haley strives for greatness this year, he will hope to return to state this year and possibly place higher than last year.

Hayley says,  “As a senior this year, I have big plans to do my best. I strive to get to state this year and lead this team as I am the only senior. I am really excited to see all of our hard work pay off and to see where this season takes us all. This team is very important to me, and I hope to help each and every one of them.

As the boys traveled to McDonald, Ohio, in their first meet of the year, Haley placed first place. Along with Haley, the whole team got third place. As they traveled to Tiffin for their second meet, they placed 4th place. The boys are off to a great start.

Haley is a huge part of this team. He has been in cross country since he was in middle school and he has improved every year. He is a great leader in practice and during the meets. Many younger kids look up to him. Haley will strive to get even better this year and grow with his team.

Junior Josh Hudson says, “We have been off to a great start this year and practicing in pre-season helped us grow as a team. As we have begun our season, our team is working hard every day to be able to do good in the upcoming meets. I am very excited to get this season started and I will continue to do my best at each and every one of our meets.”

Sophomore Tommy Pavlansky says, “My experience with cross country this year was all the major improvement all of us made over the course of the season. We all got really excited when we got a pr, pushed each other in workout, etc. We also had a lot of fun at team dinners at each other’s houses two days before meets. It was really exciting to see everyone show all the hard work they put in when it came time for racing.”

The team will continue their season by practicing hard and working towards the goal that they have, which is being able to go to state. The whole team works hard, having practice everyday and staying in and out of the weight room as well.

The team has conference and county championships coming up. Haley states, “I think we have a really high chance of winning both of these races.” The boys will continue to work hard and look forward to both of those races.

Even in past years, the boys cross country team has always been well grounded. Each year, the players work harder and work towards that state championship. The coaches do an excellent job training the athletes as well.

As the season continues, the boys will keep practicing hard and working to success. The season for these boys is already successful and they are hoping to make state after a great season. Good luck to the boys Cross Country team!
