Lakeview’s marching band has been performing their newest theme: The 90’s!!! Playing many songs students and parents alike know and love which creates a more exciting and exhilarating environment.
This year’s theme has definitely been a fan favorite, everyone has said they know at least one song and they boogied to it. While watching the show, you can sing and dance along to the songs you heard playing on the radio growing up.
I’ll Be There For You is definitely a favorite because of how many people have watched the TV series Friends. The majorettes get to wear sparkly diner outfits while dancing in front of the Friends Diner and the infamous Friends couch.
Senior Majorette Elizabeth Fazekas said, “I really love our 90s show! It’s really cool to perform songs I’ve listened to and know. One of my favorite songs to dance to is I’ll Be There For You, which is the theme song to friends! I love the show Friends and have rewatched it so many times. I was so excited when I found out the majorettes were dancing to it. Overall, I think this 90s show is an amazing way to end my senior year as a majorette!”
Not only are the parents and majorettes enjoying the show, but the band members love dancing on the field while playing the music. You can see the enjoyment coming from them as they shake their hips and hit those 90’s moves out on the field.
Band President Abby Sulc said, “The new 90’s theme is fun in many different ways! From our dance moves to the music, we have all found something to love about this season’s theme. Both of my parents love the theme because they know this year’s songs and I know that’s how it is for a lot of our parents. One of my favorite parts about this year’s theme is that the Band Council worked together to create the band dance as well as the line dance from Boot Scootin Boogie!”
Both Lakeview’s Band and Majorettes also seem to love Boot Scootin’ Boogie. Not only are Lakeview’s Majorettes dancing in gorgeous costumes, but you get to see the Band getting their 90’s grove on!
Majorette Sofia Caruso is one of Boot Scootin Boogie’s fans, “I have been enjoying the 90’s theme this season! One of my favorite songs that we perform is Boot Scootin’ Boogie. It’s a fun, upbeat song. We get to wear country-inspired costumes, complete with a cowboy hat and boots. It’s also fun because the whole band gets to dance with us.”
Instead of burying the past, Lakeview’s Band has done a spectacular job of bringing the past back to life and giving it their own twist. What really makes the 90’s theme so special is that it has given a lot of the senior class a chance to end on a good note.
Senior Zoe Baker, who is vice president of Lakeview’s Band said, “This is definitely my favorite show we’ve done! The music is mostly songs we’re all familiar with, and a few I’ve grown up listening to. When I was little, my dad would play older songs in the car or at home and I’d always sing and dance along. Hearing some of them in our band show is kid of nostalgic, so I think it is a nice theme to have for my senior year!”
Lakeview’s newest theme is one that everyone has to see! From the Majorette’s sparkly costumes to the Band’s spectacular playing. This season’s performance is not one you want to miss! So make sure to watch Varsity Football’s halftime show or make it to one of the incredible band nights hosted all over Trumbull county!
