In the past few days, Lakeview has been introducing a whole bunch of new teachers to the board. Many of them teach different subjects, while others share the same interest. With eighth grade in the building this year, we have many new faces to recognize. There have been many changes revolving around students, but the teachers as well. Every new teacher is playing a huge role in the development of this school, and deserves to be appreciated. Without further a due, Lakeview is very excited to announce our new teacher, Alyssa Tillis!
Tillis has joined the Lakeview staff as a ninth grade english teacher, in hopes to enlighten the students around her. She grew up in a small area in Portage County, also known as Diamond Ohio. Tillis describes this as a rural area, meaning it’s more countryside than town like. She attended South East schools, and seemed to have really enjoyed it. Tillis seems like a very upbeat and optimistic person who might be able to reflect that on some of her students.
After reaching out to a couple of people about the uprising of Tillis, many had positive things to say! Freshman, Nolan Allen, a fellow student in her classroom says: “I think Miss Tillis is a good role model, and makes sure all of us understand the lessons taught in class. She is good at explaining directions, and makes sure we are all focused. Although she is a new teacher, she has done a really good job so far.”
After hearing this information, it is no surprise that Tillis fits right in! Allen was not the only student to come forward on this new change, but freshman Teegan Chamberlin did as well! Chamberlin states, “Yeah, I really think Miss Tillis does a good job teaching. She seems to be very passionate for what she does, and only wants the best for us. So far, one of the things I noticed is that she is always willing to help a student in need. So yeah, overall I really like her.”
According to her current students, Tillis has put on a great first impression, and is going to be a great asset this school year!
Tillis is not only a great teacher, but is very creative as well! As far as decorating goes, Tillis might be in the lead. From walking in her room, you can sense a good vibe. The bright lights and colors really reflect Tillis’ personality. These additions not only bring a positive energy, but they make the students feel comfortable and welcomed. Who knows, Lakeview might have some new competition when the holiday decorating challenges come around! Although her decorating ability is pretty great, it’s not the only talent she has. Tillis’s teaching ability seems to be much better than that.
The students aren’t the only ones enjoying this great change, but Tillis is as well! After asking her opinion on the school year so far, she claims to love every second of it, “My experience so far has been really good! The people are very friendly, the students are the same, and so far so good.”
Tillis is not only building bonds with the students but her co-workers too! Jenna Hogue, a tenth grade English teacher, had nothing but positive things to say about Tillis and her teaching abilities. She went on and on about how well Tillis is coming along. Hogue also mentions that she has been mentoring Tillis, giving her tips and pointers along the way. Hogue is not the only one building a relationship with her, but other teachers as well! After all is said and done, we are all so excited to invite Tillis to the Lakeview family, and can’t wait to see where she goes from here!
