The 2023 school year at Lakeview High School will start off with a bang! Homecoming is arriving early this year to the district, giving students something to look forward to.
On September 16th the dance will take place! The theme this year will be Glowing Garden thanks to our very own Student Council. As the day approaches, more and more dresses are bought along with people taking on homecoming proposals. Whether students decide to go with a date or a group of friends this night will definitely be one to remember!
Junior Kennedy Bartlett expressed, “I am most looking forward to having a day to just have fun and not worry about anything else!”
Tickets can be purchased for ten dollars before the night of the dance. No tickets will be sold at the door. The dance will be located in the cafeteria in the high school, and it will last from seven to ten! Levak Photography will be there to take professional pictures throughout the night. Fun moments and dancing will be captured in action! This organization took pictures for Lakeview’s Prom last year, and did a great job! Unlike prom, homecoming is open to freshmen through seniors. Outside guests included! For some, this is their first of many high school dances.
Freshman Paige Schwartz says, “My friends and I have been making plans on where to take pictures and get dinner together. We’ve also been shopping for our dresses both in stores and online. Everyone has booked their nail appointments for before the dance too!”
On the other hand, for some people this may be their last homecoming. Currently, not everyone enrolled in high school had the enjoyment of going to a homecoming every year. In the past, homecoming had to be canceled due to the pandemic. So, we should take advantage of the years we are able to have this fun dance. This not only is a good break from school, but a way to bond with your classmates and make life-time memories.
Some are especially excited to celebrate their final homecoming together, Senior Isaiah Warner stated, “I’m planning things out with all my friends and making sure everything looks good so I can have a great time at my last homecoming!”
A major tradition here at Lakeview leading up to homecoming is spirit week! Our cheerleaders are in charge of planning these ahead of time for the student body. Although the week before the dance can feel slow sometimes these themes can help make the wait seem less long. To start the week off, the theme for Monday is Beach Bash. This is followed by Holiday on Tuesday. Each grade will represent a different holiday. Seniors dress up for Halloween, juniors are Valentines Day, sophomores are 4th of July, freshmen are Christmas, and the eighth graders will even be participating with Saint Patrick’s Day! On Wednesday the theme is Barbie vs. Ken due to the popular new movie! Thursday is always a fan favorite with Pajama Day. Finally, Friday is Lakeview Pride. Specifically, Seniors are to wear blue. Juniors will be wearing black, sophomores speak for white, freshmen act for gray, and lastly the new eighth graders in the building are overall Bulldog pride. There is usually a good amount of students involving themselves with this exciting week of preparation for homecoming!
Following this, the football game the night before the dance covers Homecoming Court. To be chosen for the court you must be a senior, and voted for by your peers. There will be eight girls and eight boys picked from the class of 2024. These sixteen people will be announced to the crowd before the game against Niles. Hopefully our Bulldogs can pull off another win to start off the homecoming weekend!
We are wishing everyone a fun time at the 2023 Homecoming Dance!
