Kicking off the new Lakeview 2023 school year, the Bulldog Bulletin has unfamiliar faces. This year’s staff has 3 returning members and 19 new members. As a staff, we are tasked with a variety of different jobs to capture this school year’s amazing memories.
Our school publication is broken down into two parts: newspaper and yearbook.
The newspaper portion of class is to understand the things that are going on in Lakeview High School. We want to make sure to keep other students informed as well as people outside of school. It is important to us to help others understand what goes on inside our school community.
For the Yearbook portion of class, it is important that we work hard and take it seriously. We need to be able to do our part in capturing photos of all the Lakeview students to make it a great yearbook.
We are assigned certain pages and can expand on our theme in our own personal way. However, we must maintain an organized format in addition to being able to add our personal touch. Organizing the photos comes along with getting quotes from people in those sports, clubs, and grade levels.
When talking with some of our newer and returning classmates they had pleasing things to say about Publications.
Returning member Senior Izzy Haines presents, “I am super excited to see what this year’s yearbook class brings. I am excited for all the new members in the class and I’m also excited to show how much fun the yearbook is. I took this class again my senior year because I wanted to have the chance to help design the last yearbook I’ll ever have!”
Although publications can be difficult and frustrating, our goal is to create unforgettable memories for ourselves and those around us and as Colben Schick says, “have a good time creating it with my friends.”
Junior Regan Price reveals, “I joined this class because I thought it would be a lot of fun to contribute to the yearbook and have a good time doing it with my friends. I think I will really enjoy this class when it is my senior year too! Once I have an interesting topic to write about I find writing fun. I think I will do well in this class writing articles because I know I can learn to have fun with it! I am also looking forward to this year’s final product of the yearbook and what we come up with for 2023.”
Upon being asked about her decision to join, Junior Katie Wutrick had nothing but good things to say.
Wutrick demonstrated, “I decided to join publications to be more involved with our school. I also wanted to be able to help create a yearbook that everyone can be a part of. I’m excited to see the theme all put together and to see the final product. I think I’ll do fairly well throughout this course. While Publications isn’t like any class I’ve ever taken before, I feel like my writing is somewhat strong. With the help of our Publications teacher, Mrs. Sarko, and the editors, I think my articles will all be well written. I’m very excited to capture special moments throughout this year. I also plan on taking several pictures of the student body in order to preserve the memories made this year!”
We put in a lot of hard work to produce an extraordinary yearbook and uncover a fantastic method of having a good time with our fellow students. We are working as hard as we can behind the scenes to make it a great year for our students, teachers, and parents.
