New Lakeview High school teacher Denise Leibold takes on 8th grade science. Leibold stepped in and took over an 8th grade teaching spot to help fill teaching positions. She previously taught at Lordstown and formerly worked as an English teacher.
She jumped at the opportunity to teach at Lakeview because her son Ethan attends Lakeview Middle school. Leibold herself is also a Lakeview Alum.
She went to college at Bowling Green and Muskingum University. Shes obtained a bachelors degree in Biology as well as a masters degree in teaching. She’s currently been teaching for only 4 years.
Leibold expresses her interest in getting kids interested in science,“Its a good way to get the kids interested in science early. I prefer high school but I enjoy it; 8th graders have a lot of energy.”
Leibold is said to have a very fun and lighthearted way of teaching. Many people in her classes enjoy being there and have a good time. She’s done a great job adapting to the new environment of teaching 8th grade. Current 8th grader Izaiah Redd, who has Leibold as a Science teacher this year seems to really like her and her teaching methods.
Redd stated, “I enjoy coming to Mrs. Leibold’s classroom because she’s very nice and laid back, she’s a good teacher to let off steam with.”
He also added to that by explaining the way she teaches and the effectiveness of her teaching. “In her class she explains things in simple terms so we understand them and I’m doing very well in her class so far.”
Redd explains that he enjoys the environment and appreciates her presence in his day to day life by stating, “She’s also very funny and is nice to joke with. She’s probably my favorite class because I can be myself.”
She taught a high school Biology class at Lakeview High School near the middle of the year. She was liked by many and all students have enjoyed being in her class.Current Sophomore Cooper Sekela, who had Leibold in class last year as a Biology teacher seems to also have a very positive view on her and the way she runs her classroom.
Sekela states, “She had a great learning environment because she’s very easy going but she promoted us to turn in our work.”
He also claims that her open attitude made it a lot easier to learn in class. “I always felt that I could ask questions and engage in learning the materials because everyone in the class was comfortable with her. We were encouraged to ask questions, even if we should’ve known the answers and she always made sure we knew the material she taught in the lessons well.”
Sekela, among many considered her to be helpful in both school and personal situations. “She was definitely my favorite teacher because I could really just talk to her about anything and she’d be willing to listen or give advice.”
Sekela also mentioned how his grades were as a result of her class. “Before her class I didn’t usually get too good of grades in science, but she’s the first class that I ended with an A as high as a 98 percent.”
Leibold seems to not only be a great teacher, but a good person. Along with her newfound tendency to raise students’ grades from the results of her class.
It seems that Leibold’s fun demeanor, teaching principles, and good attitude are doing well and she is largely contributing to Lakeview High School. No matter if that’s teaching a different subject, or grade she seamlessly steps up to the challenge. She represents the Bulldog way by showing her perseverance and willingness to help our school in a time of need. Hopefully this positive attitude continues to infect Lakeview high school and Leibold continues to influence students in a positive light.
