Head Coach Derrick Bush’s leadership has played a pivotal role in the Bulldogs’ impressive performance this year. The team’s dedication to off-season training and intense summer practices has set them on the path to success. With a solid 3-2 record in the books, the Bulldogs are prepared for greatness as they get ready to face formidable opponents in the coming weeks, including Girard, Struthers, Hubbard, Poland, and Beaver Local. One of the returning players of the Bulldogs, junior Xander Nicholas, is brimming with optimism and anticipation for this season, especially for the upcoming home game against Girard. Xander is our starting center on varsity. Nicholas predicts a complete victory for Lakeview.
“I’ve seen the dedication and hard work we’ve put into every practice,” Nicholas said. “Our team is stronger than ever and with every practice we get better. Coach Bush has pushed us to become a much stronger and more resilient team.”
Part of that resiliency will be the ability to bounce back after disappointments.
Senior Tyler Hovance, a cornerstone of the Bulldogs and a four year letter winner, has set his sights high for this season. Hovance is our starting left tackle and predicts an impressive 8-2 record for the team, reflecting the unwavering confidence and ambition that spreads throughout the locker room this year.
“We’ve come together as a family, and it shows in how we play,” said Hovance. “Our goal is to dominate each game, and I firmly believe we can achieve that 8-2 record. We have put in the work, both physically and mentally, and it’s starting to show on the field. This is going to be a great season for the Bulldogs, I hope we can make our school proud.”
Another key returning senior player, Sam Harper, echoed Hovance’s sentiments about the team’s dedication over the offseason. Harper emphasized that the Bulldogs are gearing up for a remarkable season ahead after the hard work and dedication put in in the off-season.
“We’ve made tremendous strides this past year as a team,” Harper stated proudly. “The work we’ve put in over the offseason between lifting and practices has prepared us for whatever challenges lie ahead. I’m sure that we’re going to have a great season.”
