Lakeview High School students have recently voted on who they would like to be nominated for the spot of Homecoming King or Queen. Seniors are the only qualified candidates to be nominated. The entire student body of Lakeview High School is able to nominate eight girls as well as eight boys of the senior class. When the candidates are nominated it is left up to the senior class to vote for members of their class to be King and Queen.
The student body voted the eight boys to be Sam Balest, Sam Gillis, Tyler Hovance, Josh Hudson, Jake Nicholas, Jack Peterson, Nolan Toth, and Isaiah Warner. The eight girls chosen to represent Lakeview were Zoe Baker, Ellie Davies, Olivia Easton, Gianna Ferraro, Izzy Haines, Elisa Kotsatos, Abby Sulc, and Makenna Werner.
The senior students walk down the aisle made for them during our annual homecoming pep rally in pairs. When the students have reached the end of the aisle they show the entire student body a handshake that they created. The pairs go in alphabetical order, making them Sam Balest and Zoe Baker. Sam Gillis and Ellie Davies. Tyler Hovance and Olivia Easton. Josh Hudson and Gianna Ferraro. Jake Nicholas and Izzy Haines. Jack Peterson and Elisa Kotsatos. Nolan Toth and Abby Sulc. Leaving Isaiah Warner and Makenna Werner left to show the audience their handshake.
When I asked Senior, Makenna Werner how she felt to be nominated for Homecoming Queen she exclaimed, “It was an amazing moment to hear that I was nominated for Homecoming Queen. It really means a lot to me for the students to nominate me.” Werner is so grateful for the opportunity to win Homecoming Queen.
When asking Senior, Jack Peterson how it felt to be nominated by the student body he expressed, “I was very appreciative to be nominated by the students of the high school to be in the running for Homecoming King. Even though I did not win it was a good opportunity and great competition.” Seems like Peterson is very appreciative of his classmates.
The seniors vote for who they chose to be the Homecoming King and Queen within their graduating class for it to be announced before the start of the Homecoming football game. Each nominated senior walks down Lakeview’s football field with their parents, while their plans in life after high school are announced over the loudspeaker.
The seniors then come together paired up in alphabetical order and facing the audience while they await to see if they won. The winners are announced over the loudspeaker allowing everyone at the stadium to hear that this year’s Homecoming King and Queen were Josh Hudson and Izzy Haines!
I asked Senior, Izzy Haines how she felt to be nominated by her class to win Homecoming Queen “It was very fun to be able to experience walking across the field with my family and friends. Winning queen was a huge surprise and a big honor for me. It will be something I remember forever and I’m just very thankful and happy I got to spend it with great people!!!” Haines will never forget the moment her graduating class voted for her to be Homecoming Queen.
I asked Senior, Josh Hudson how he felt to be nominated by his class to win Homecoming King “It was such an honor and it was a moment that I will never forget.” Hudson feels honored to be nominated by his class.
The announcement of Homecoming King and Queen is such an exciting moment for everyone at the game. Everyone is excited to hear who won, but also excited for everyone to come together to cheer on the bulldogs at the football game afterwards.
