The Lady Bulldogs are off to an amazing start this 23′-24′ season. This year the Lady Bulldogs are back and better than ever before. We have a winning streak of 11-0 in the conference.
The Lady Bulldogs dedicate endless hours to practice and learn new techniques in order to remain undefeated in the conference.
With a 3 against 2 score vs Girard on October 5th 2o23, we made it the second year in a row into the NE8 conference!
Junior Addy Allen explains, “I wanted to play volleyball again because I had a great time last year, and I was also very excited to play with all my friends. My favorite part about volleyball is home games because more people come out and support! We also have team dinners which I really enjoy. I am planning on playing next year not only because it will be my senior year, but because I’ll get to play with all of my friends one last time.”
While staying focused to remain undefeated these girls also know what it’s like to have fun.
Junior Reagan Price states, “I have been playing volleyball since seventh grade, and it’s a huge part of my life. My favorite part about volleyball is having fun with my friends on the court. I love the excitement we all have when we have a great game or play. I will absolutely be playing volleyball next year! I love my girls, and plan on playing in college as well.”
Even with all the games, the girls have different traditions outside of the court.
Price also demonstrates, “Before every home game we have team dinner along with what we call “secret sister.” This is where we are assigned a random teammate and get them a bag with candy and a drink. We reveal who we had after the season. We also do a team prayer in the locker room before every game!”
Junior Mara Schmader adds, “One tradition that we do is a team sleepover. We usually prank our coach, and every time it is always so much fun!”
Not only teammates on the court but family. As a team, they take the necessary time needed to make it work.
Schmader exclaims, “I decided to do volleyball this year because it is always something I look forward to going to. I love hanging out with my friends while doing something I love. My favorite part about volleyball is that I get to create friendships with my people and make memories with them!”
In general, these girls have a strong love for what they do. The bond between the girls grows as they participate in many practices, games, and traditions.
When interviewing Junior Ava Bacon about herself and her team, she expressed her passion for volleyball.
Bacon says, “I decided to do volleyball this year for my love of the sport and I have been playing it since the 7th grade, a perk being it also includes all of my friends. My favorite part about volleyball is the bonds that are created between the girls within the sport. I will be playing volleyball again next year. Some traditions the volleyball team has is our annual team sleepover and a scavenger hunt.”
Throughout this whole season, the girls have worked harder than ever. The Lady Bulldogs will keep returning and excited to play. The only way they can do it is if we can keep up our support! Continue to show up to the games to support our girls and their championship! Can’t wait to see you at our next game at Mineral Ridge October 9th, 2o23, at 7 pm.
