The school store at Lakeview High School has undergone a remarkable transformation this year, making it a hub of activity and a hotspot for students looking for snacks and supplies. With an expanded inventory, new decorations, and modern conveniences like a card reader, the school store has become a thriving hub on campus.
Operated by Business teacher and coach Mr. Romano and his first and fourth-period Entrepreneurship classes, these students are the driving force behind the store’s revitalization. They have not only worked hard to stock the store but have also played a pivotal role in its successful reopening.
One of the most significant changes this year is the increase in supply. The store now offers a wide variety of student-favorite snacks, including Gatorade, Hot Pockets, ice cream sandwiches, candy, Nature Valley bars, coffee, Pop Tarts, and more. This expanded selection has attracted the attention of students and teachers alike and with an increase in stock we don’t have to worry about running out of our favorite foods.
Caden Durica, a junior and a student worker at the store, shared his excitement about the changes. “We’ve really upped our game this year. The variety of snacks we offer is a lot more than last year and it’s great to see so many people in the store. It definitely became more popular this year compared to last year. We also have a bunch of food still on the shelves so we won’t run out anytime soon.”
The Entrepreneurship class worked hard this year to give the school the best version of the store possible. They made a variety of signs for the school stores opening and posted them throughout the school. And took steps to make sure that the prices were as low as possible for the hungry students.
The store offers affordable and easy snacks for students. Senior Nolan Toth talked about what the class did to set up the store. “We went through and found out what items had the best value before ordering supplies for the store. Our goal was to provide the most affordable prices for our classmates. It also let us order more food than last year on a similar budget.”
Another improvement that has been a big hit is the addition of new decorations, including a television and a stocked mini-fridge. Jeremy Ainsley, a fellow store employee, commented on the store’s new look, saying, “The store feels more cozy now and the tv is a nice touch. It’s become a gathering place for students and it gives us something fun to do during study hall.”
Perhaps one of the most significant game-changers for the school store this year is the introduction of a card reader. Junior Griffin Oravec emphasized the impact this addition has had. “The card reader made transactions a lot easier especially for when people forget cash. There has definitely been an increase in business compared to last year. Plus, more ways to pay means more ways for our store to make money.”
As the school store continues to evolve and cater every year to the changing preferences of its customers, the dedication and hard work of students and teacher Mr. Romano remain at the forefront. With a well-stocked inventory, inviting decorations, and modern payment options, the school store is not only meeting but exceeding the expectations of the Lakeview High School community.
With these enhancements, the store has become a bustling and vibrant center of activity, offering not only essential snacks and supplies but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere for students. It is clear that this year’s reopening has been a resounding success, and the store’s popularity is expected to continue to grow in the coming months.
