Lakeview High School has offered students many opportunities for a better education throughout the years. One incredible opportunity that students get is being able to take college credit plus courses. Lakeview encourages students to take these classes and to take advantage of them. CCP classes have many beneficial factors that play out by taking them. CCP classes can allow students to save money by utilizing college material for free and allow them to be ahead when college comes up.
The first year that most students start to take these classes is junior year. However, some people may start earlier or later, depending on the high school courses they take. By taking these CCP classes, juniors may be challenged or it may come easy for them depending on how they can handle it.
Junior Lacy Gavitt shares about the CCP classes she is taking this year stating, “This year I started taking college credit classes and I truly believe that they are setting me up for a great future. I’m taking three CCP classes this year and they are going great. It really is a step up this year from normal high school classes and they tend to require a little more time and studying.”
Gavitt explains how sometimes they can get a little stressful when she says, “Sometimes they do get a little stressful, but they are pretty easy to manage.” Gavitt also explains how she thinks they are beneficial stating, “They allow me to work on my associate’s degree while still in high school. This is great because it’s also at no cost. They have really put me in a mindset to achieve my goals through college and they are pushing me to want to go to college as well.”
As you can see, Gavitt encourages others to take CCP classes because of how beneficial they are. They can lead you to have a more successful future because it allows you to earn your associate’s degree faster. However, they may seem stressful at first, but most students learn how to handle them throughout the year.
Junior Hallie Capan was asked about her CCP classes when she said, “They definitely take work, but in the end, I know that many benefits will come out of it. CCP classes helped me challenge myself in a different way that high school classes didn’t. I know that taking these classes, will prepare me for when college comes and get me to the level that college is at.”
Capan shares how they are different from high school classes stating, “I have definitely noticed the difference between CCP classes and high school classes. CCP classes are more challenging and they take more time for studying and attention. However, in the end, I know that my future will be more successful because of them!”
Taking these college courses can prepare you for college in many ways including boosting your confidence, getting you at the college level, and helping you learn how to manage your time. Many students think that they are beneficial to their future even though the stress that they may come with.
When asked if she encourages students to take CCP classes, Junior Olivia Petrilla responded, “Yes, I totally think that students should take these courses because they will help them in their future. They may think that it will be too much, but I think they are easy to manage.”
Petrilla also states, “I’m so glad I started taking them my junior year because it’s allowing me to prepare for college so that I know what level the classes are when that time comes. So far I think that my CCP classes are going pretty well this year.”
It looks like juniors have been handling their CCP classes pretty well this year from what we’ve heard! They may be stressful, but in the end, they contribute to a successful future in college. Overall, CCP is a great program to take advantage of and to challenge yourself!
