It is no secret that the Marching Bulldogs are a very excitable and enjoyable band. Several people from our community come out on Friday nights and are just as excited to watch the band and majorettes perform as watching the football game! Lakeview’s band nights are also super busy and rake in a lot of community members!
Our school had been talented enough to be noticed by The Ohio State University and then invited to their marching band invitational in Columbus-they even won the award as well!
Several of the band’s seniors were in awe of the beautiful campus and how they got to perform on the same field where some of the best football players and band members in the state play.
The Marching Band started off their trip on Saturday by leaving at 8 am. The bus ride took a little over three hours with a quick stop to McDonald’s. Once the band reached Columbus, the band members took time to shop in Polaris. The Marching Band then set up and prepared to perform their 90’s themed show at Ohio Stadium.
When asked just how she felt about performing in Ohio Stadium, senior Elizabeth Fazekas stated, “I had an amazing time at the Buckeye Invitational. I was in shock when I saw the inside of the stadium. Performing in their stadium was a major highlight of my marching band experience, and I am so glad I was able to be a part of the opportunity before I graduated. Seeing The Ohio State University marching band was also a major highlight of the trip. It was also the first time I have ever seen them in person. Ohio State’s band was so clean and had really cool visuals. Overall, the Buckeye Invitational was an amazing experience!”
Band President and senior Abigail Sulc also shared that she loved and appreciated the experience. She stated, “We just got the chance to go to The Ohio State University for the first time in years to perform, it was definitely one of my favorite things we did all year long. It was also so cool to see all of the different band performances, most of the other bands that performed were competition bands so they put on the performance of a lifetime. I enjoyed the entire night. Zoe and I got to receive the award which was probably my favorite part of the entire trip! I am so glad I was able to experience this opportunity and it was the best way to close out my last season of marching band.”
Band Vice President and senior Zoe Baker stated, “Going to preform and watch the Ohio State marching band play the Buckeye Invitational was an – in all – amazing experience. Abby and I accepted our band’s award together and were very grateful to do that! We also got to watch the Buckeyes’ band perform in person which was a very cool and entertaining experience. It was so fun to watch a collegiate level band with my fellow band members. It was overall a great and fun experience and I am so glad I was able to enjoy it with my friends and classmates!”
The Lakeview Marching Bulldogs are guaranteed to have two more performances at our football games’ halftimes. Please consider coming out and showing your support for your local Bulldogs at the last regular season game this Friday and the first playoff game next week! Good luck, Bulldogs!
