As one can say a goal has never scored a without getting a pass from someone else. With the Lakeview girls soccer team resulting in an end, it is known that they have not only made achievements as a team but individually as well. The Lady Bulldogs 2016 fall season ended in a record of 13-1-4. They won the District Quarter Finals against Salem with a score 3-1, leading them to the Semi District Finals against Hubbard with a final score by Lakeview, 4-1. Making the Lady Bulldogs have the great accomplishment of making it to the District Finals against Howland, with a tragic loss of 0-3.The girls soccer team has not had the privilege made it as far as the District Finals since the year of 2012 making this an event that will be remembered in the records of Lakeview High School girls soccer. Many players received individual awards for their hard work and dedication throughout their fall season. Seniors Rachel Braunegg, Hope Churley and Miranda Meffe were awarded First Team all District Team, and alone Braunegg was awarded player of the year. Junior Samantha Yanci and Sophomore Reagan Rosenberger was awarded the Second Team all District Team. Awarded the Large School Team award was Senior Emily Metheny, Sophomore Izzy Wilson, and Freshman Madison Clark. With the award Hailey Rains got an honorable mention. The last award received by seniors Haylee Mathews and Hope Churley was the Senior Academic award. When interviewing team member Samantha Yanci I asked her the question, “How do you think next year’s season will be?” And she responded stating, “Next year’s season will feel a little empty because we are losing eleven seniors, but we are also recovering many talented incoming freshmen who will contribute to the team greatly and hopefully help us have a successful year for my senior year of soccer”. With the new freshman of the 2016 season Madison Clark, Isabella Kakiou and Hailey Rains already receiving great recognized, it gives hope for the future individuals that will eventually be apart of the Lakeview High School girls soccer team. Another question I asked Yanci was, “What are some aspects that you think made you and your team come that far in the season?” and her response was, “We had a rough start to the season but once we came together and worked as a team and saw what we were capable of doing, we were unstoppable.” This statement shows the important definition of what is to be apart of a team. With the amount of time, work, and sweat put into every game and practice this year’s team discovered that the most important thing is the relationship and the confidence you have in the person playing on the team next to you.
