Lakeview held their annual homecoming dance last month and as you may know, students were interviewed a few weeks after the dance to see what their thoughts and opinions were on how the dance was put together, how it went, and if they had a memorable experience.
Now, it is time to see what the teachers who were chaperoning thought about the Bulldogs and their dancing skills.
Three of the chaperones present included English teacher Jenna Hogue, Science teacher Maureen Bucko, and Publications Teacher and Librarian Angela Sarko. Each one of these teachers have been attentive to homecoming dances before. Hogue in particular was present this year as she has been many other years before and said, “I always love seeing my students in different capacities having fun. Seeing the kids all dressed up with the biggest smiles on their faces is always the highlight of my night. This year I loved how we had a great turnout because I got to see even more of my students making memories.”
Here at LHS we are very lucky to have such amazing staff working together to provide such perfect memories for our high school students. From the feedback that was received from the student body it seems everyone was content with how the dance turned out.
Although so far it seems as though the staff here at Lakeview had all good things to say about the Bulldogs– will the other teachers have the same positive outlook?
Bucko was present at the dance as well, taking tickets from students as they walked in alongside our principal, Lawrence Herrholtz. Therefore, she was one of the first faces you would see while entering the dance, making her role very important. Bucko said, ”It was so heartwarming watching all the students walk in, so excited to finally see what was behind the cafeteria doors. I thought that the student council did a wonderful job making the decorations because the setting turned out wonderful. Even though I didn’t get to go inside the actual dance, I did get a glance at some of the students inside and it looked to me like they were having a great time.”
Despite the fact that she did not get to see much of the dancing, that adds another staff member to the book who had no complaints about the dance. While this may be true, there is still one more teacher with feedback to give about the dance, Mrs. Sarko.
Sarko said, ”I go to all of the dances because I primarily want to get pictures for the yearbook, but there are always other jobs needing to be done so I also ended up pouring pop for the students because after all that dancing of course they were thirsty. This year we didn’t go through all the pop but we went through all the cups because this was definitely one of the best attended homecomings that we have had in a while. I think that everyone was well dressed and in the spirit of homecoming. Even though we did not win our football game we stayed true to the Bulldog spirit and had a lot of fun the whole time. From my point of view it seemed that everyone stayed until the very end and danced until the final song was over.”
All in all, now that it has been confirmed by both students and staff, I think it can finally be said that the Bulldogs haven’t lost their groove. Yet another very successful Lakeview homecoming can now be marked in the books.
Thank you to all the staff who dedicated their time to the dance, and thank you to the students who made an appearance. The night wouldn’t have been the same without you.
