October has passed, bringing in November holidays and traditions. Although this is true, we can’t forget about October, and the spooky holiday everyone looks forward to. The Lakeview Bulldogs showed their holiday spirit in multiple ways! Teachers covered their rooms with spooky decorations, and even passed out candy to the students. The high school did a great job incorporating Halloween in the classrooms, but the preschoolers took it to a whole new level.
On October 31st, the preschoolers dressed up in their best Halloween costumes, parading around to school to show them off. Teachers kept buckets of candy in their rooms to pass out to the little children, acting like they were trick or treating. They would walk around the classrooms until they got up to the front. From there, they all paused and sang a spooky song to try and scare the older kids! They did a fantastic job with their costumes, and brought the Halloween spirit back to some older Bulldogs!
Many of the high school students celebrated Halloween in many different ways. Junior William Bullock, described his holiday as fun and exciting because he got to spend it with his girlfriend. Bullock states, “I loved this Halloween, especially because I got to spend quality time with my girlfriend. We passed out candy the whole time, and saw some really cool costumes! My favorite one I saw was an old fortnite character. Overall I had a really good Halloween this year.” From this, it is clear that Bullock had a fantastic time celebrating this spooky season.
Bullock wasn’t the only one that celebrated Halloween, but Junior Jaren Dye did as well! When asked what he did this Halloween, Dye claims, “I had to work most of the night, so my coworkers and I decided to dress up in costumes! It seemed kind of dumb at first, but I actually had a really good time! When I got home, my brother showed me all the candy he got, and even offered to give me some. Even though I would have rather been home, I definitely made the most of the night.” Considering Dye’s experience this Halloween, it seems like it was a success!
Halloween is the holiday that lets children dress up in their most favorite costumes, while allowing them to collect their favorite candy. Junior Kennedy Bartlett would agree with that. When asking Bartlett about her experience this year, she claims that it was one of the best. Bartlett states, “To be honest, I really enjoyed Halloween this year. I did something a little different than I usually do, which was a whole new experience. I was invited to walk around with my nieces while they trick or treat, stealing a few pieces of candy for myself! I also loved seeing how happy they were in their costumes. All in all, Halloween was very special this year because I got to spend it with my family.” It is obvious that Bartlett also had a great Halloween this year.
Now that Halloween has passed, many people have looked forward to the upcoming holidays, excited to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with their family’s. These holidays are very special, which is why Halloween can be overlooked. After talking to the student body, it is clear that many of them did something to keep the Halloween spirit alive. Whether it was passing out candy on Halloween, or carving pumpkins with their family’s, a lot of them participated.
Halloween might be a silly holiday, but it gives kids a chance to express themselves in a different way, while also giving them the opportunity to socialize with others. This goes for adults as well! When going trick or treating with children, they are given the opportunity to meet new neighbors, and form relationships with people they never even knew existed! After all is said and done, the Lakeview Bulldogs had a great Halloween this year!
