In Lakeview’s 2023 football season, the players worked their way into the playoffs. Their hard work allowed everyone to get together one more time for an exhilarating game. The players did something amazing, they pulled the community and students together. With the stands full, Lakeview’s varsity cheerleaders put on their biggest smiles for the playoff game.
Junior RaeLynn Hall expresses her admiration for cheer, and her excitement going into the game.
Hall states, “I was very excited going into the playoff game, and to cheer on the football team in their accomplishment! Cheer season is my favorite part of the year and I was so excited to have an extra game! My favorite part was being able to cheer with my team and the seniors for one last time this year. I already can’t wait until next year.”
Many varsity cheerleaders I spoke with expressed similar feelings. Many of them had various responses of how excited they were to be a part of the playoff game and get to watch from the sidelines rather than in the stands. Many conversed it made them feel closer to the game which allowed a whole new perspective from their end.
Many cheerleaders also expressed their love for cheer and getting to be a part of something so huge was an amazing experience in their high school career. Overall, they all had similar quotes stating “I love being a cheerleader!” and one more game was just the icing on the cake for the season.
As for Junior Addison Briell, she takes it a step further by expressing her love for the crowd and community.
Briell states, “My favorite part of the playoff game was seeing the community come together to fill the student section and stands with lots of support for our team. The energy of the crowd was so contagious and made for a great last game of the season.”
As for Lakeview’s senior cheerleader, this game was especially special. Clover Wagner was ecstatic to get to experience one more game before heading off to college.
Wagner states, “The game was absolutely amazing! I felt so close to everything since it’s my last season and not knowing if we would make it to another game really made me not take anything for granted. I admired every moment of the game as well as all of my teammates. It has been an amazing season and I’ve bonded with every cheerleader I am so happy I got to experience one final game with every one of them! Lakeview hasn’t made it to playoffs any of my years in high school, so to make it my final cheer season was really an amazing way to end my cheer career!”
Ending the 2023 football season out strong was a huge win for everyone. The varsity cheerleaders especially enjoyed one final game and couldn’t have asked for a better season!
