Thanksgiving is a time of the year filled with love, thanks, family, and food. When you think of Thanksgiving, you think of who and what you are thankful for, whether it’s family, friends, food or shelter. Traditions are a big part of Thanksgiving and many families do different activities that are unique to them. Getting ready for Thanksgiving is also a big part of it too. Preparing for Thanksgiving can include cooking, baking food, and making sure the house is clean. Some of our Lakeview students have shared some of some of their favorite Thanksgiving activities that they do!
Sophomore Maddie Pompoco is excited for Thanksgiving this year and all of the activities that she does every year. Pompoco shares, “We usually do all of the basic things that go along with the holiday, like expressing what we are grateful for, eating food like turkey, and most importantly hanging out with my whole family!”
Pompoco looks forward to her family coming into town and celebrating the holiday with all of them. She said, “It’s fun to see everyone together and enjoy spending time with each other!” Pompoco also shares what she is grateful for this year, “Every year, I’m always thankful for my family and friends. I’ve always been thankful for them because they help me whenever I need it and encourage me all the time.”
Many families this year all have different traditions they do and Junior Hallie Capan gave some insight on what her day will look like this Thanksgiving. Capan explains how she will be spending the day at her grandparents house along with the rest of her family. She will be playing games during the day waiting for dinner time.
Capan and her family also have traditions that they do every year for thanksgiving. She said, “My family has a tradition of eating breakfast in the morning and watching the Macy’s Day Parade together.” Capan shares how she is excited to see her family because she doesn’t get to see them all the time!
Family and friends are a big part of Thanksgiving to everyone as you can see. Thanksgiving is the time of the year where you get to have everyone together to bond and have fun. It’s a day to make memories with your family like playing games, eating, and just hanging out!
Freshman Annaliese DeJulio shares a tradition she does for Thanksgiving, “My family and I always play games together after we eat which is always so fun because we are always so competitive to win which is always funny.” DeJulio describes what her day is like every Thanksgiving, “We usually spend the day with our whole family just eating, hanging out, and having fun. I love Thanksgiving because it really makes me think about how lucky I am to have my family.”
DeJulio also said what she is thankful for this year, “Most importantly I am thankful for my family and friends. They always make me laugh and are always there for me. Another thing I am grateful for is the food and shelter that I have. I am so lucky to have the food and shelter that I need because some people don’t have that.”
Another Sophomore Ali Parise explains how she is very excited for Thanksgiving because of all of the food and family she gets to see. Parise said, “Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I get to see my sister and brother because they get to come home and the rest of my family. I love it when we are all together because we always have so much fun!”
Nevertheless, we wish everyone a great Thanksgiving this year filled with love, family, and food!
