December is finally here and with it, Christmas cheer! Students and teachers are working together to decorate their doors for the holiday season. However there’s a twist! It’s actually a door decorating contest! The doors will actually be voted on by the entire school. Each door will be voted on by: humor, holiday spirit, and style. So, put your Santa hats on and get ready to decorate!
Students are super hyped to compete in this once in a year experience. While decorating with cheer, students think back to who they voted for, their emotions on everything, and how they decorated their doors.
For some it may be easy to decide who has the best door. But for others, it may not be so easy.
Sophomore Zoe Tynes stated, “I wasn’t really sure who to vote for honestly. All the doors were so different ya know? Like It’s weird because you’d think they would all go for traditional Christmas things, but no. Honestly, If I were to choose a person to vote for I would vote for my teacher, Mr Johnson. but I really think that a lot of the other doors were pretty cool.“
It’s extremely hard to decide who has the best door. Especially when they are all so amazing!
Freshman Sydney Williams said, “They were all so cool really. I personally voted for my teacher but I was debating on voting for someone else’s door. The polar express train door was super cool, definitely one of my favorites. I really liked the gingerbread house one. Honestly I think that all the doors were super cool. It’s kinda cool walking down the halls seeing a bunch of Christmas characters. You pass a classroom and see scrooge then there’s a giant polar express and so many other things.”
On the other hand, some people believe that the clear winner is obvious.
Junior Mattie Parrish claimed “I really think that Mrs. Miller’s door was really cool. Not to say that the others were bad. I just really liked the cup snowman. I think it was really cool and pretty different. I still don’t understand how they did it.“
Everybody was determined to win this holiday competition! Students and teachers alike.
Tynes said, “Everybody had really good doors but honestly I think that our door was one of the best doors. Probably one of the betters ones. definitely top tier up. I still think that a lot of the other doors were super cool though.“
Christmas trees, holiday lights, wrapping paper? Anything is in play here for this contest! students definitely understood.
Parrish mentioned, “The doors were all super different. Some had popular Christmas characters others had like- teachers faces on it? I also think I saw one with a Santa coming down a chimney or something like that. Really cool to see how people decorate the doors. I’m kinda excited to try and win next year“
The doors were all so different this year! Walking down a hall was like a winter wonderland! Filled with traditional Christmas characters and, surprisingly, unconventional ones.
Tynes said, “I saw Hogue’s door and it was, let’s just say different? Funny yeah, but definitely different. Almost everyone was following a more traditional Christmas theme snowman or snowflakes. and suddenly there’s a minion. Just randomly. Out of the blue. Overall I really like her class’s design, especially the minion on the front of the door. Definitely stands out from all the rest, in a good way.”
Christmas brings out the joy and, apparently, the competitiveness in everyone. Decorating these doors has clearly been a blast for everyone. So, same time next year?
