Senior Emerson Hyde is getting close to graduating and preparing for that next step within her life. Hyde has been a member of the Lakeview School District since Kindergarten and cannot wait for high school to be over and begin the next chapter of her life.
Hyde has been a very active member of the extra curricular activities at Lakeview High School. She has been a member of the varsity girls tennis team for four years, is a part of the National Honor Society, and participates in the school’s Senior Beta club. Hyde has carried the weight of finishing all of her school work as well as maintaining a job all throughout her four years of high school.
Hyde’s decision on where she wanted to go to school took her a while to select, but she has known what profession to become for a while. She will be attending Youngstown State University in the fall of 2024 to major in psychology, where she plans to use later on to become a forensic psychologist.
When Hyde was asked what was one thing that she would do differently as a Freshman she exclaimed, “If I could go back to freshman year I would definitely take online schooling more seriously. Having zoom classes for half of the year and for half of my classes definitely took a turn on my GPA and I would change this to do better in those classes.”
Hyde is an upcoming graduate who had to handle the pressure of online schooling during COVID, and believes her cumulative GPA would have been better if she understood the importance of her online classes. She also uses this as her advice to the underclassman to never slack and to try your best on everything.
When asked what is one thing you will remember most about Lakeview? She described the thing she will remember most is “definitely the teachers and staff. Everyone is so friendly and makes me feel welcome. They encourage me to be a better person even on my worst days.” Hyde is extremely grateful for how the staff has influenced her experience within the Lakeview district.
Continuing on the topic on the influence of teachers, Hyde was asked which teacher influenced her the most throughout the Lakeview district? She exclaimed “Mrs. Gillespie from my 6th grade year. She was so encouraging and pushed me to be the best person I could be. Even now she still makes sure that I am doing my best and wrote me a college recommendation letter.” Hyde is thankful that she had a teacher to look out for her during her time at the district.
Hyde was asked which senior class traditions she was most excited to participate in and she described “I am definitely excited for my senior prom, cap and gown elementary school walk through, and the senior parade.” She looks forward to these events because “they are a way of sending us off and showing all of the lower classes that we did it.”
When asked what has inspired her most throughout her High School career, she responded with “graduating with honors is what has inspired me throughout my whole high school career. Ever since I was a freshman this was my goal to do and pushed me to do my absolute best.” Hyde has waited her four years to be able to feel the accomplishment of graduating with Honors.
Hyde has spent most of her senior year hanging out with her friends in her free time outside of school. She exclaims that her favorite out of school memory with her classmates is “hanging out in my friend Gianna Ferraro’s basement. Some of the best memories have been created here.” Hyde is extremely thankful for the great friends she has made throughout the years at Lakeview High School, but also could not be more grateful for high school to be almost over.
Good luck to 2024 senior Emerson Hyde as she takes the next big step within her life!
