Now that winter break has come to an end, students are beginning to get back into the swing of things here at Lakeview. As of the beginning of this month, the third quarter/ second semester has commenced. Students received their report cards, and some even received a schedule change! That being said, students are now adjusting to the changes of being back at school, still reminiscing about the good times they had over the two week vacation.
All of the Bulldogs I spoke to seemed to have a great time while they were off. Many celebrated holidays such as Christmas and Hanukkah with their loved ones.
Junior Arianna Powell said, “I had a wonderful time over break. I was able to spend a lot of time with my friends celebrating Christmas. We participated in lots of activities like shopping at the mall, doing gift exchanges, and watching movies.” I then asked Powell what made her Christmas so special. She told me, “Honestly, being surrounded by my loved ones is what really made my Christmas so meaningful. I got to visit cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents that I don’t typically get to see, and it was truly heartwarming to see everyone together eating, smiling, and laughing. That is why Christmas is such an important holiday to me.”
Other students found more ways to stay active and occupied over the holidays this year.
Junior Anthony Marble-Salem is one of them. Marble- Salem, a cross country and track runner here at Lakeview, said, “I spent most of my time over break training. I often came to the school track with my teammates and practiced running with them for hours on end, even in the cold conditions. When I wasn’t running, I was in Akron with my family, watching football and playing with my little cousins. I even went to a Browns game in Cleveland with my Grandparents. Overall, my winter break was filled with a lot of good times and even some personal achievements. I am glad I stayed active and worked hard instead of giving myself a two week break because track season is right around the corner.”
I spoke to one other student who also enjoyed their vacation off from school.
I asked Junior Meliah Persino, who is known for her notorious art skills, if she had any projects to complete during break. Persino explained,”Over break I didn’t really have much to paint, I spent most of my time hanging out with my friends and my little sister. Before break though, I had spent a long time working on my art midterm so by the time that was complete I was pretty tired and thought I deserved a little time off. I then asked Persino, “If you weren’t painting, what kept you busy over the holidays?” She replied, “I spent the beginning of my break doing a lot of Christmas shopping and decorating. I was a frequent shopper, given lots of my time was used at the mall buying gifts for my friends, family, and boyfriend. By the end of the holidays I was happy to see everyone enjoyed their gifts. Seeing my loved ones happy was probably one of the best things to happen over my whole winter break.”
There you have it, Bulldogs. Another successful vacation for LHS. It seems that everyone’s time was well spent, but now it’s time to get back in the swing of things. The second semester has finally begun, and we won’t have some more time off until spring. I wish everyone the best of luck with their studies until then. Welcome back!
