Senior Ryan Gee is headed toward the next chapter in his life. Gee has been a proud Lakeview student since his kindergarten year. Gee like most seniors is excited to see what his life will be like after high school. Gee is enjoying his time as a senior but is very excited to head off to college.
Gee has been playing basketball for about 11 years now and has found much enjoyment in the sport. Not only is he a part of the basketball team, he is also an active member of the National Honors Society.
Many of Gee’s most memorable moments of his senior year revolve around Basketball. His favorite memory of basketball occurred during junior year when the Lakeview team won their last game and he had his best game by scoring 19 points.
Unfortunately for Gee, he suffered from a broken collarbone just a few games into his Senior season of basketball. While he could’ve given up and thrown in the towel he continues to be a positive for the team. During practice and games he still contributes by helping out coaches, running practice, and training players to do the right thing. While a devastating injury, Gee’s output has been nothing but positive. Gee plans to return on the court against Labrae which the Lakeview boys team plays on February thirteenth.
Going back to Gee’s freshman year, he wishes he could change some things. One things he wishes is that he could try to procrastinate less, especially with big assignments. While it always seems like you can put off the work, sometimes it is easier to get it over with sooner rather than later.
When asked what he would change about his freshman year Gee said, “Try to not procrastinate any homework assignments, projects, or essays. Pushing these assignments off really created pressure and it was not fun to deal with.”
Later we asked him what the most challenging part about his senior year has been so far. Gee explained, “The most difficult part about senior year is trying to not get distracted in order to focus on school work.”
Lakeview has had a major effect on Gee; when asked what he will remember most about Lakeview he said, “The friends that I have made because I have met people that I will never forget.”
Lakeview has surrounded Gee with many great people, whether they have already graduated, are on the basketball team, or are just classmates with who he has bonded with. We had the pleasure to ask some of his friends about their thoughts about Gee.
Senior Ethan Probst said, “Ryan has remained committed to his schoolwork and his team even through the challenging times. Even through a major injury, he continued to support his teammates and help them to improve. We, as a school, are excited for his return to the court and hopefully pushing our team into the playoffs.”
Senior Dylan Clements also only had positive things to say, “Ryan has become a major part of my senior year and was truly a great person to get close to. From going to Buffalo Wild Wings every Friday to cheering at football games Ryan has always been a pleasure to be around.”
Gee’s life after high school will contain going to college, while unsure of where he wants to go he is sure of what his major will be. When asked Gee stated, “Going to college for Business Administration. I think a way of starting fresh, and creating my own path.”
Gee is very excited to graduate and move on from high school; however, he will remember his high school years for the rest of his life.
Good luck to 2024 Senior Ryan Gee as he moves into a new chapter of his life!
