As winter settles in and the allure of freshly powdered slopes beckons, the Lakeview Ski Club is abuzz with anticipation for its upcoming expedition to Whiteface Ski Resort in Lake Placid, New York. Nestled amidst the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains, Whiteface boasts the greatest vertical east of the Rockies, promising endless thrills and unparalleled adventures for the club’s members. After four Peak n’ Peak trips to help the club’s participants warm up their skiing legs they are ready to take on a whole new adventure.
With anticipation building, the Lakeview Ski Club is gearing up for the journey ahead. However, embarking on such an adventure comes with its costs. The trip to Whiteface requires meticulous planning and financial commitment.
At $600 per person, the cost encompasses transportation, lodging, food, and lift tickets for the three-day excursion. It’s a significant investment, but one that promises memories to last a lifetime.
The bus will leave at 9pm on February 15th and we are scheduled to arrive at 6am the next morning. The club is scheduled to stay three days at a hotel near the mountain with two full days of skiing. The club will also be visiting the Olympic center where the 2023 Winter Olympics were held.
With the memories of past escapades to Peak n’ Peak still fresh in their minds, the Lakeview Ski Club is primed for another unforgettable journey.
Junior Michael Nigrin, a seasoned club member, reflects on the camaraderie and excitement that define the ski club experience, “Ski club gave me the opportunity to experience something new with my peers,” Nigrin shares. “I’ve only ever skied at Peak n’ Peak, so heading up to the mountains at Whiteface will be a whole new adventure for me. I’m looking forward to exploring new terrain and experiencing the thrill of skiing in a different environment.”
For junior Arianna Powell, this trip marks a maiden voyage into the world of skiing. Despite her lack of experience, Powell radiates enthusiasm and determination. “Even though I don’t have as much experience as some of my classmates, I am taking this as a moment to have fun with my friends and I am sure I will have no trouble figuring out how to ski because I will have tons of friends by my side to show me how it’s done.”
Meanwhile, junior William Bullock, a dedicated skier and ski club veteran, eagerly anticipates the additional excursion to Whiteface. “Being a part of ski club has given me the chance to go with a large group of my friends,” Bullock reflects. “Every year I have participated, I had an amazing time going even though it took me a while to learn the basics.”
The Lakeview Ski Club’s journey to Whiteface epitomizes the essence of adventure and camaraderie. Guided by the expertise of Lakeview Art teacher Jeffrey Piper and Chemistry teacher Joshua Murphy, the club embarks on a quest for adrenaline-fueled escapades and unforgettable memories. As the club members prepare to carve through the pristine slopes of Whiteface, the air buzzes with excitement and anticipation from the club.
Undoubtedly, the Lakeview Ski Club unites students of all skill levels in pursuit of winter bliss. As the club members prepare to embark on their Whiteface expedition, one thing is abundantly clear: the slopes await, promising endless exhilaration and boundless joy. However, the conditions at Whiteface will be colder than any experienced at Peak n’ Peak, so all members are urged to prepare accordingly with warm attire. Moreover, the trip to Lake Placid falls on Presidents Day weekend, a once-in-four-years opportunity that adds an extra layer of excitement to this year’s ski season.
