Senior Jack Peterson is finishing up his final year at Lakeview High School. Although there is still some time left, he is very excited to move on to the next chapter!
While attending Lakeview his whole life, he has participated in many extracurricular activities such as golf and baseball. Not only has Peterson taken part in athletics, but school clubs as well! Some of these are the National Honors Society, Ski Club, Junior Executive Committee, Student Council, and the Students Making a Safer Highway program.
Over the years, Peterson has made new friendships and will continue to carry them through college as well. Some of his closest friends, Senior Sam Balest, Senior Tyler Hovance, and Senior Sam Gillis had many positive things to say about him. Balest said this: “ I became super close with Jack my junior year. He is one of the most hard-working and genuine people I have ever met. I’ve made tons of memories with him in that time, and I will definitely miss chilling with him when he heads down to Oxford.” Peterson has left a lasting impact on Balest and does the same thing with his other classmates.
Going off of Balest, Hovance wanted to share his experiences with Peterson as well. He states “I’ve known Jack my entire life, and he’s always been a great guy. Growing up, Jack and I were inseparable. We did many things together, and even got our first jobs. I have always appreciated having a friend like Jack. He’s always been just a dog, someone you can always count on. You just know he will always be there for you. I’m excited to see where Jack goes with his life, and I know he will be very successful.” This goes to show that Peterson’s friends will forever be grateful for him, and will miss him when he goes away.
Balest and Hovance weren’t the only ones who had something positive to say, but Gillis did as well. He mentioned, “Over the last few years of high school, Jack and I became closer through mutual friends and our shared willingness to get better. Becoming better friends with Jack has motivated me to keep up with my goals, knowing that he will always push me to achieve them.” Gillis, along with Peterson’s other friends, believes Peterson has a way of making them better, motivating them to be the best version of themselves.
Peterson’s life after high school will continue at Miami University. He plans to major in business, hoping to one day work as an investment banker.
After asking Peterson about his favorite high school memory, he had one that really came to mind. He says, “My favorite high school moment was getting to play my last golf season with the same kid I’ve played with since before high school and going to sectionals.” Peterson will forever appreciate the memories he made on the golf team, especially with his favorite teammate.
Peterson was also asked what advice he’d give to upcoming students, and he stated that you should “take advantage of your freshman year and make it count because it will weigh a lot on your GPA if you don’t pay attention.” He also says that “you shouldn’t take the time you have for granted, and should instead take time to grow up.” Time can fly by really fast, so it is important to take time to appreciate the little things in life.
Peterson will soon be moving on to the next big step in his life. With this, Lakeview, friends, and family wish him the best of luck, and hope he will experience a bright future.
