The 2024 track season is surely going to be a great one! Last track season was very intense, many girls qualified for regionals and then went on to states. Girls track and field has always had a pride for going that extra mile. The girls also went on to be champions of NE8 for the third consecutive year. While also sending multiple runners to perform at the state meet.
The Bulldogs have been gearing up for track since late November. The girls would all get together to lift weights or go on runs or maybe a mix of both! The anticipation for track season is heavy. The meets are bound to be exciting.
To kick off this 2024 track and field season, the lady Bulldogs have also welcomed sprinter coach Bob Easton. Previously, Easton has coached football, basketball, and other track teams. Easton recently went through the process to become a coach for the lady Bulldogs and he is ready to work them!
Lakeview girls are being led by Bryce Nalbach this season, he has led the girls track and field team since.. In Nalbach time of being a coach he has experienced many fantastic runners, some even making it as far to state! I spoke to Nalbach about how he feels this season, “Last year was a very successful season led by a large group of seniors with significant contributions from every grade level. We won our conference and sent multiple runners to the state meet.”
All the ladies on the track team are becoming prepared and Nalbach has high hopes, “This year we are looking to continue the standard that has been set in recent years. We expect new leaders to step up and defend our conference title.”
Standards are sky high for the lady Bulldogs this track season!
Many girls have been anticipating this track season for months, including Junior Jalyn DeLeon. She has been a very competitive runner her entire high school career. DeLeon puts in work on and off the track to be the best athlete she can possibly be. I’ve spoken to her and these are her thoughts on this season, “This season I’m really just working to break some barriers. Coming off of the last track season has given me a lot of confidence and I feel like this season holds a lot of opportunities. I’m really hoping I can beat the 800 meter school record and make some new personal records for myself!”
Hopes are high for DeLeon, she has been preparing all winter and is feeling confident in her ability!
Another athlete I’ve been in touch with is, Sophomore Nora Lewis. Lewis runs long distance just like DeLeon, but Lewis specifically runs the 3200. Lewis is looking forward to a season filled with personal records and fun, “Track season is all about dedication and teamwork. Prepping for it means a lot of practice, focusing on nutrition, and mental toughness. Representing Lakeview is a huge honor. There’s a legacy of greatness to uphold, and each athlete’s effort contributes to continuing this legacy.”
Lewis is an extremely motivated individual working towards that goal Coach Nalbach has set for each individual on the team.
On and off the track the lady Bulldogs are proud to represent Lakeview at every meet. Being a part of the track team also means being a part of the Lakeview community. The girls track team takes pride in representing Lakeview and stepping up to those standards previous generations of athletes have set.
The lady Bulldogs started training last Monday and have been putting in immense amounts of effort. The very first meet is an invitational on the 23rd of March! Go Dogs!
