On February 21st, 2024 Lakeview Girls basketball team takes on the Rootstown Rovers at their place.
As the Lady Bulldogs season came to a close they ended the season with a 6-16 record. They were also ranked 6th in the Northeast Eight conference.
As the girls wrap up their season it is making a lot of the girls on the team grieve as they will miss their seniors Izzy Haines and Makenna Werner.
I asked Senior Makenna Werner Are you sad that the season is coming to an end? What will you miss the most? She states, “Being that I’ve played this sport since 4th grade I am definitely going to miss it. Over all there has been multiple ups and downs but basketball is always going to be a sport I love. So being that it could potentially end tonight makes me very sad to think about. However, I have made so many memories with different teams and teammates that I have played with. I am going to miss the ability to make memories with an amazing group of girls that I have been able to play with, along with the sport itself. Overall I am very happy with how this season went and so glad I could spend it with the teammates I had on the court this year.”
Sophomore Isabella Isenberg also adds, “I am upset that the season is coming to an end. Although we didn’t end with the greatest record we made the best of the season and had a lot of fun doing it. I am going to miss the seniors I played with this year. They have been great role models for me and were such great people to play with. I will miss them so much along with this season.”
This is a very bittersweet moment for the 2024 Seniors. They have worked so hard to get where they are now and they have accomplished many things. Lakeview will miss watching these seniors and wish them the best of luck in their future.
The team has high hopes for the game tonight. The team has spent many weeks and many hours preparing for the game. They have many plays and ethics they will run tonight to get the win against the Rovers. The girls have been well conditioned and are ready to take this game head on and win their first game of playoffs.
I asked Sophomore Kalyssa Werner What is your game plan for the game tonight against Rootstown and how will you help your team? She says, “I am going to push myself tonight on defense. I believe that defense us one of the biggest parts of the game. Not only will I try my hardest on defense but I will also be sure to make all of my layups and free throws.”
Not only have the seniors led the team this year but so have the Sophomores. Considering the team had no juniors this year the Sophomores did a fantastic job stepping up and being one of the big dogs on the court. We would like to thank all of the other players on the team that contributed so much to the season this year.
Starting with the Sophomores, Annie Humphrey, Kalyssa Werner, Mackenzie Stowe, and Isabella Isenberg. Freshman Anna Haynie, Anneliese Dejulio, Izzy Oravec, Sammi Oravec, Sophia Irwin, and Paige Schwartz. All of these young ladies did an amazing job this year on and off the court. The bonds that these girls have created to give the Lakeview Bulldog fans great games to watch and we thank them all for that.
Good luck to the Lady Bulldogs playoff game tonight!!
