Lakeview High School’s boys Basketball official season has come to an end. The team had a terrific season and put in a tremendous amount of work and time between games and practices. Although the team went out on a loss, they still can come back during playoffs. The first playoff game will be held on February 27th.
Varsity Cheerleaders have also put in lots of time this season between games, team dinners, and practices to put on performances during halftime. Playoffs are just as important to the Cheerleaders and will determine their season as well. During the final game cheerleaders spoke out about their season coming to an end as well.
Junior, Addison Briell, states “This season has been full of fun and excitement! Whether it was a distant away game on a Tuesday night or a packed home game, cheering on our boys has been so amazing!”
No matter when or where the game takes place, Lakeview cheerleaders are thrilled to attend and cheer on each and every basketball player. Watching Varsity and JV games was eventful for everyone to watch. The cheerleaders know the amount of practice the boys put in and it clearly shows during games.
Junior, Lily Bell, states “This year’s basketball season has been so exciting. I had a great time cheering on the basketball team each and every game and watching them play. It is clear that there was a lot of hard work and practice put in this season”.
Although they basketball team didn’t win every game, it is clear they worked together to be the best they could. Just as basketball is a team, so are the cheerleaders. They spend multiple days a week together and become extremely close to one another.
Junior, Olivia Petrilla, states “This season has been so fun and amazing! Even though we ended a season on a loss everyone has worked so hard this entire year. I had a great time supporting our basketball team with all of my friends”.
Even if basketball struggled during a game, cheerleaders did their best to keep the spirit up. The student section helped to keep that spirit alive. During games cheerleaders and the student section worked together to cheer on the basketball team.
Although there was not a Junior Varsity Cheerleading squad, the varsity girls did their best to cheer for everyone. In many games, they would take turns cheering for Junior Varsity to ensure every basketball player had someone to cheer them on. Most of the cheerleaders are first-year varsity cheerleaders and did their best to be there for every basketball player. The squad was all excited to be a part of the varsity team with all of their friends.
Putting an end to the season means the girls will not spend as much time together. The squad collectively agreed they would miss attending games and cheering on the boys. They also will miss team dinners and working on dances to perform during half time. The girls had an amazing time putting on performances, cheering during games, and working with the student section to keep up the spirit. The student section participated in cheers and even a dance with the cheerleaders. The squad decided their favorite dance was the boys’ dance because they got to create the dance and work with the boys to make it fun and exciting.
The entire squad said they had an amazing season and although it is coming to an end they will treasure the fun times they had with the boys, student section, and overall each other. This season has brought the squad extremely close and they will miss all the amazing games they spent together. Each playoff game will be treated as if it could be their last game. Playoff games are the most important yet and the squad hopes students and parents will cheer on the basketball players as well. Overall the squad wishes the boys the best of luck and believes they can take us far into playoffs because of the hard work they’ve put in all season.
