This week, March 25th- March 27th 2024, is our last week of school before spring break! This year the Bulldogs get a long leisurely break to spend with their families and friends. Due to the fact that the break this year is a week long, there is a lot of time for our students to have some fun outside of school. I was curious to see how the Bulldogs will be spending their break, so here is your inside look on how they will be springing into break this year.
A few students this year are taking advantage of the long break and going somewhere that the weather is more enjoyable.
Junior Thomas Easton is one of those lucky students escaping the cold this week. Easton said, “Over break I am planning to go to Florida with my girlfriend and her family. I am mostly looking forward to spending time with her, but the warm weather will definitely be a plus. I haven’t been on vacation since last summer when I went to Myrtle Beach with my friends Justin and Jacob Grossman, so I am ready for another trip. When we went to Myrtle, we had to drive twelve hours. It was terrible. So this time I am happy to say we will be flying down to Florida which is only about 2 hours.”
I asked Easton if this was his first spring break trip, to which he replied, “Yes it is. Usually I spend spring break with my family, but this year I have another person to spend it with so I am pretty grateful. I have been to Florida with my family before so I am familiar with the area, and can’t wait for spring break to begin so I can finally experience some good weather and make memories I will remember forever.”
As wonderful as it sounds to get away from the bipolar weather and blistering cold in Ohio, some students are staying local.
Junior Zac Poptic plans on staying in Ohio, but has a little trip planned that doesn’t require a plane or a twelve hour car ride. Poptic said, “This year for spring break I am going on a camping trip with one of my friends. He has some property and a lake not too far from here so we will be driving up there and camping for a weekend. I plan on fishing most of the time. I have been fishing since I was a kid and it is one of my favorite pastimes, so I am excited to spend a weekend fishing and relaxing with my good friend.”
I then asked Poptic what his favorite thing about break was and he said, “My favorite thing about spring break is having one last break before I have to lock in for the end of the school year. By the time we get back to school we will only have about seven weeks of school left. As excited as I am for summer, I know it is important to finish strong, especially because I will be going into my senior year this August.”
Finally, I interviewed one last student, who had much different plans for this break. Senior Mara Johnston said, “During spring break I plan to prepare for prom. I already have my dress but there is still so much more to prepare for. Our prom is a little more than a month away, which means it is the best time to start making sure everything is in order so nothing is last minute. Because this is my last prom, as well as my last high school dance ever, it will definitely be a special day so it is important to start preparing now.”
Overall, it is easy to say that the Bulldogs are more than ready for their well deserved upcoming spring break. I hope everyone enjoys their time off! See you back here April 4th.
