As the end of the 2023-2024 school year begins to end, the Bulldogs buzz with excitement for prom. The juniors and seniors traditionally celebrate with a week-long Spirit Week and a Prom Pancake Breakfast!
This year, the cheerleaders have decided on some fun themes for the Spirit Week! On Monday, the Bulldogs were instructed to wear their favorite jerseys. Tuesday was college apparel day. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs wear pink. Thursday, Lakeview juniors and seniors choose whether they dress as a BBQ Dad or a Soccer Mom. Last, Friday is for Lakeview Spirit.
Though Spirit Week reels in excitement and anticipation for the dance Friday, many seniors are left feeling bittersweet.
Senior Elizabeth Fazekas is left feeling “sad this is [her] last prom.” She stated “I am really excited for it. It had been really fun and a little stressful to find everything for prom, like my dress and shoes. I am really looking forward to see everybody’s dresses and to have a great night to spend with my friends. I had a great time last year and so I am excited for this Friday! Spirit Week has also been a great way to get people, like me, excited for prom. So far, I would have to say my favorite themed day has been college day.”
On the other hand, Junior Katie Wutrick simply just feels “excited.” She stated “I am really looking forward to prom. Since it is my first one, I am not really sure of the expectations of the night. However, since I am a member of the Junior Executive Committee, I can say we have worked super hard to have a super fun prom for everyone!”
When asked what she was most looking forward to Friday, senior Lillian McCarthy stated, “I am mostly just excited to see the dresses and how good they look. I am also really looking forward to Prom Preview since the dresses will sort of be on display for everyone to see. In all, I am just looking forward to the day and how much fun I will have dancing and singing with all of my good friends. Some of my best memories have come from hanging out with them at the school’s dances.”
While the process of getting ready for the dance can take months in advance for some to find their dresses, shoes, and getting tan, others may have it much easier.
Senior Tyler Lucas stated “I have only really had to get my suit and buy the flowers for my date. I am really looking forward to Friday though, prom last year was a lot of fun with my friends and I am looking forward to reliving all the fun of it again at the end of the week. I do feel a little bit upset since prom is showing how close the end of the year is. Graduation is only about two weeks away.”
Friday morning, during the start of second period, Lakeview’s Publications class will be holding an annual Prom Pancake Breakfast in celebration for the dance. The breakfast will cost $5 to any Junior or senior planning to attend. At the end of the breakfast, there will be a Prom Safety talk with the students before they are released back to their classes.
Angela Sarko, the Publications teacher, has worked very hard to guarantee an enjoyable breakfast with the students. She stated “Publications students will be doing the cooking, cleaning up, and serving. This is the only fundraiser for our newspaper.”
Be sure to dress the rest of the themes for the week and plan on attending the Prom Pancake Breakfast! We hope to see you all there!
