Lakeview students begin to wrap up the year. We are entering the final weeks of school, which means students begin clocking out for summer. However, there are several events before this mentality can set in. Students are beginning to prepare for their final exams, and taking on the last events of the school year!
Junior Mason Wheeler states, “This year has flown by faster than any other year. This school year was the first year I took on more challenging classes, including CCP. These classes were challenging but well worth the benefits. As I finish up these classes, I am nervous about the final exams. However, I feel like my teachers have well prepared me. Closing off the school year has been difficult because all of my exams finish at the same time. One nice thing is my college classes end earlier, is it leaves me with more time in the summer!“
Final exams are a big part of the student’s lives right now.
Junior Katarina Candor mentions, “Final exams are right around the corner, and I’ve been very overwhelmed. With all my classes ending at the same time, I feel like I do not have time to properly prepare. On top of classes ending, I have a lot of responsibilities with other activities. I am a part of the executive committee, and we have been busy preparing for prom. Planning prom has taken a lot of my time, leaving the rest of it to focus on studying. While these exams are going to be difficult, it will be a huge relief to get them over with. After exams, I can focus on summer. It will be my last summer as a high schooler, which is very bittersweet.“
Juniors are not the only class worrying about finals.
Senior Elisa Kostasas says, “This upcoming month has been very stressful. I have been preparing for prom, finals, and graduation. This set of finals will be the last in my high school career. While I am stressed, I have been preparing all year. This year, finals look different for me since I have to finish in one class period instead of the normal time allowed. This time restriction has been worrying me, but it also gives me a sense of relief. With time being restricted, my tests are a lot shorter than they’d typically be. On top of finals, I have been stressed about graduation. While I am very excited, it is scary knowing I will be starting a new chapter of my life. While the end of the year has been stressful, I know my hard work will pay off.”
Finals week has been taking a toll on even the underclassmen.
Freshman Preston Rich mentions, “I am worried about finals week. Freshman year is my first real year of high school and final exams. While I took some finals in middle school, they were not in every class. This year I have to take five exams all in a matter of a couple of days. I am worried because I have never had to take that many tests back to back. One thing I am looking forward to during finals week is open lunch. I am excited to get to leave school with my older friends and get a break from testing. I feel like this will be a better opportunity to prepare me for future CCP classes. While finals are stressful, I am excited for it to finally be summer.”
Lakeview wishes the best of luck to students on their final exams! However, it is important to realize the school year is not yet over and to keep pushing through.
