This edition of 2024 Top Dog will be covering Senior Ethan Probst. Probst has been a Lakeview student for countless years. Probst is eager to start a new chapter and ready to speak on his time at Lakeview.
First, I had the chance to ask Probst, “What is one thing you wish you knew as a freshman and why? What would you do differently as a freshman?”
Probst added, “If I could go back to freshman year I wish I would tell myself to take some stress off of grades. I believe that they are important but gaining real world experiences and making lifelong friendships are key.”
Grades do have an impact on a person’s future, however stressing over grades all throughout high school and losing the true meaning of high school can be something to regret. High school is the time to meet new people, create new friends, and make life long memories. Next, Probst spoke about how Lakeview has changed him as a person and student.
Probst elaborates, “I believe that Lakeview has instilled a sense of pride and has taught me to become a successful leader. No matter where I end up, I believe that my high school career will help me in some way.”
Lakeview has a great support system and excellent academics, Probst can be seen as a special product of Lakeview. Next, I asked Probst about who his favorite and most impactful teacher has been in Lakeview.
Probst explains, “The teacher that has influenced me the most would be Mrs. Miller. I was never confident in math until I was in her classes. She was able to teach a challenging subject to me in a way that made sense. I am heading toward a math based career because of the confidence that she instilled.”
Math teacher Jamie Miller is one of the best teachers Lakeview has to offer. She teaches mostly upperclassmen in Mathematics courses. Many students have said she leaves an outstanding impression and is one of the best teachers they have had.
Next, Probst speaks about the excitement of Senior year.
Probst said, “My favorite part of senior years was finding out what everyone was going to do after high school. I have grown up with all of my classmates and it is great to see them head on successful paths.”
It certainly is something special to see. Seeing everyone you have known since they were young kid suddenly pick majors and colleges is very exciting. This is one of the many amazing things about the last year of high school.
Next, Probst spoke about the most difficult thing about senior year.
Probst exclaims, “The most difficult part of senior year would be trying to balance the workload, along with trying to pick a college and major. This is a stressful time where a lot of large decisions have to be made, so it was challenging. Getting through college decision season is a relief.”
College decisions certainly can be something that troubles many students throughout their senior year. Many different decisions and life-altering choices that kids are forced to make.
Next, we asked many other classmates about Probst and his impact.
Senior Ryan Gee stated, “Ethan is always a stand up guy, always there if you need help with schooling or if you need someone to have a funny conversation with.”
Senior Dylan Clements said, “It truly has been an amazing experience being able to grow close with Probst within our Senior Year together.”
Some very very high praise from Lakview’s finest students. Only good and positive things to say about Probst and the value he brings to the school.
Lastly, we asked Probst what his plans are for the future.
Probst explained, “I will be attending Penn State University in the fall of 2024. I will hopefully complete a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am very excited to move forward in life. There are so many opportunities out there and so many ways that I can go. It is a lot of handle, but is exciting at the same time.”
Good luck to Probst in the next big chapter in his life!
