This Friday May 3, 2024, Lakeview High School will be having their Jr/ Sr prom day. However, prom is not the only exciting event for our students. The yearbook staff will be holding a FREE pancake breakfast for all juniors, seniors, and staff who wish to attend!
This annual fundraiser for this very online student newspaper The Bulldog Bulletin usually carries a $5 fee to attend, but this year The Lakeview Teachers Association has made a donation to cover the cost of all juniors, seniors, and high school staff that want to attend as well as the cost of ingredients used. Newspaper adviser Angela Sarko and the publications staff are very grateful for this unexpected offer and thrilled because this is their only newspaper fundraiser so they work hard to get everyone to attend.
The breakfast will begin at the start of second period. All yearbook staff will work hard during first period to begin making the pancakes. Each breakfast will be five dollars for students. When the breakfast concludes, the Trumbull County sheriff will have a surprise visitor to speak about prom safety.
Senior Ana White attended last year’s pancake breakfast. She said, “Last year’s pancake breakfast was a really good experience. I enjoyed having a good breakfast before a big day and it was nice to eat with my friends. After we ate we had a speaker come in and deliver a message that stuck with me for the rest of the night. I’m really glad that they provided breakfast for us and I am also really excited for this year’s breakfast.”
As previously mentioned, the yearbook staff will be cooking the pancakes. I asked Arianna Powell who is a junior on the yearbook staff if she was ready for her first pancake breakfast. Powell said, “I am excited for the pancake breakfast, however, I am a bit nervous as well. I want to provide a good breakfast for my peers and don’t want to mess it up. But overall I think I will leave the cafeteria with good memories that I will never forget. Prom is a special day, but making pancakes with my friends will really add to the excitement. I will be able to greet all of the juniors and seniors I know and talk to them about prom as we serve them. It will be great getting to see everyone with smiles on their faces so to answer your question, yes, I think I am definitely ready.”
After hearing from a yearbook staff member who will be attending the annual pancake breakfast for the first time, it sparked my interest for students who have no idea what to expect. I asked Junior Michael Nigrin what his expectations were. Nigrin replied, “I honestly don’t know what to expect, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. I know most of the people on the yearbook staff and trust that they will make some good pancakes.”
I then decided to ask Nigrin what he was looking forward to the most about the breakfast. Nigrin said, “What I’m looking forward to the most is the special guest. I am curious to see who they will be bringing in to speak to us. I’ve heard some rumors but don’t know what is true and what is not.”
Furthermore I think there is a lot of excitement from students who know what to expect, and even those who don’t. Lakeview yearbook staff has maintained a good reputation for making pancakes and will be preparing both Thursday and Friday during school to ensure that everyone has the best time possible on prom day.
Juniors and Seniors, don’t forget to be here at the start of second period if you normally aren’t here. On behalf of the yearbook staff we would love to see as many familiar faces as we can. On top of that, the message from the surprise guest is something that none of you will want to miss– you heard it right here from a senior who vouched for the importance of the message. We hope to see you on Friday morning, Bulldogs!
