Michael Moats is a senior at Lakeview. He has also played tennis for Lakeview for three years and played soccer for two years as well. Not only was Moats a good athlete, but he has been a good student at school as well. As time advances through the years from being a freshman to the time of being a senior, students tend to learn some things and learn from their mistakes along the way. Moats mentioned how, “If I went back to my freshman year, I would be more social. Whether that was being more social with my classmates or going to more school/sporting events.”
Moats has been attending Lakeview ever since elementary school. With that being said, he has been at Lakeview for a majority of his life. Moats said that Lakeview affected him by, “It had an effect on me throughout my entire life. Even though it might not feel like it, I know that Lakeview has brought me friends and memories that I will never forget.”
Moats will be attending Youngstown State University this upcoming fall. As a result of moving onto his next chapter in life, he will be leaving some things behind.
He mentioned that, “The thing I will remember most about Lakeview is the people I have met along the way. The friends that I have made in the classroom, and the friends that I continued to grow relationships with outside of the classroom. The teachers have also been a big part in my school career. They have taught me everything that I know and I have grown as a student because of them. I am very grateful for all my friends and teachers I have had the opportunity to meet through Lakeview. ”
Time goes by fast in high school. Although it may not feel like it in the moment, one day you will look back and think about how fast it went by. With that being said, it is important to live in the moment. There are so many things going on in high school and you should enjoy every moment. Moats recalls that, “I am am most excited about the football games. Being able to dress up with the theme and being in a cool and intense environment with your friends is really fun. Friday nights were always my highlights whenever football was going on.”
As we are nearing closer and closer to the end of the year, seniors are beginning to feel that crazy feeling of growing up. Moats says that, “The most difficult part about senior year is I am going into a whole different environment this next fall. Instead of driving to Lakeview every day, I am going to be driving to YSU. Instead of seeing the same people, I am going to meet a lot of new people that I have never seen before. Although I am not sure what college will look like yet, I am sure it will be fun. ”
Moats said some advice he would give to the underclassmen would be, “Ask the teachers questions in the classroom. If you do not understand a topic or subject, then you should ask. The teachers are there to help you and you won’t get made fun of for asking a question.” As for college, Moats plans are, “I am going to Youngstown State University. Although it’s scary to think about the future and things I do not know yet, I know that it will be a good time.”
Let’s all wish Moats a good rest of the year and wish him good luck as he moves onto his next chapter in life!
