Kendall Werschey is excited to begin her first year as a teacher at Lakeview, where she will serve as the Intervention Specialist for 11th and 12th grade students. As a graduate of the University of Akron, Werschey is eager to make a positive impact in her new role, having already felt the warmth and support of the Lakeview community. Reflecting her decision to join the school, she shared, “The administration and staff were all so welcoming and encouraging from the second I walked in the door. As a first-year teacher, that was very important to me.”
This year marks a milestone for Werschey, as it is her first time in her own classroom after completing her student teaching with second graders. Though her student teaching experience was vastly different, she looks forward to working with our Juniors and Seniors, saying, “I am very excited for this school year since it is my first year teaching. I am excited that I get to work with the juniors and seniors, which is different from my second grade student teaching. I am excited to work with all my students and support their needs for success.”
In addition to her role as a teacher, Wershey has also taken the role of the 7th grade volleyball coach, merging herself even more into the Lakeview community. Her passion for both teaching and coaching is noticeable as she expressed her enthusiasm for the school and its environment, “I am already loving the community here at Lakeview and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me here.”
Assistant Principal Michael Detoro also shares this enthusiasm with Werschey, emphasizing how evident her positive impact is on Lakeview–not only as a teacher, but a coach– explaining, “Miss Werschey is an upbeat and personable educator who has shown a passion for helping others. She has even taken on a coaching role with our district with the 7th grade volleyball team. She shows a high ceiling and we hope to have her as part of our faculty for years to come.”
Detoro reflects on the impact of her start in the spring, explaining his excitement of her registration to join the Bulldogs and gives us insight of the hiring process that she easily went through, emphasizing how, “Mr. Herrholtz and I were extremely happy to find Miss Werschey last spring during the hiring process. She did awesome during her interviews and the people that she worked with in the past spoke very highly of her.”
Lakeview Principal Lawrence Herrholtz continues this excitement, giving us his point of view of her hard work and determination as a first year teacher, explaining, “I’m very excited to find a person of her professionalism joining us on the Lakeview staff. She’s a first year teacher, she was very excited to come here, she’s been working really hard and she’s been doing a great job for our kids, especially our seniors looking at transitioning out.”
Herrholtz also gives us input of her hard work and determination as a teacher, explaining how she has put so much effort into getting her class up and running, saying, “Her dedication is evident, she has been working really hard to get a brand new class up and running. She is putting in a lot of extra time which I’ve witnessed and making sure that class is up to standards. Her work so far has been amazing.”
With her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting her students, Werschey is sure to make a lasting impact on the Lakeview Bulldogs as she embarks on this exciting new chapter of her career.
